The people yes
The people will live on.
The learning and blundering people will live on.
They will be tricked and sold and again sold
And go back to the nourishing earth for rootholds,
The people so peculiar in renewal and comeback,
You can't laugh off their capacity to take it.
The mammoth rests between his cyclonic dramas.
the single biggest problem with America in the eyes of the rest of the World (i think) is a complete lack of humility. boy am i fed up of being told what a great nation America is and that everyone should be like them, because lets face it no one is perfect all countries have different strengths and weaknesses, none of us has got it rght yet, but we're all trying,
is just America seems so self satisfied, while its citizens are shooting each other and its news networks (FOX) are propegating right wing propaganda, its film divisions distributing left wing bias (Farenheight 9/11) where is the balance an fairness, the freedom of speech with responsibility.
a hypocritical country with no humility, that why i can't stand them, but if they learn from history and change their ways, why not.

The eyes of the world? Are we to be judged by the myopic eyes of the world?
myopic certainly describes the world better than it does the United States:
1. nearsighted (vs. farsighted), myopic -- (unable to see distant objects clearly)
2. short, shortsighted, unforesightful, myopic -- (lacking foresight or scope; "a short view of the problem"; "shortsighted policies"; "shortsighted critics derided the plan"; "myopic thinking"😉

Originally posted by wolfbynyteOf course we can improve in the eyes of the other nations. Less radical would be to keep our physical assets but subordinate our will to other countries. That also seems like too high a price to pay. The USA does not have to "save face" with other countries. It does not have to "improve in their eyes." The USA is still the country considered most desirable by the inhabitants of other countries.

We are only strong if we have friends that believe in us.
Just worried if the entire world is against the U.S, what life would be like here. I would defend it to the end, but would hate to get into a losing fight.

Americans don't agree with each other. Too many of us make excuses, instead of solutions. I wish that those who do not like the U.S that live here, would pack up and go. The problem is that there isn't a place on this planet that has a government that is perfect.
Originally posted by wolfbynyteI personally do not believe that nations are ever "friends" with other nations. It is not true that "We are only strong if we have friends (nations) that believe in us." It is true that "We will only have friends (nations) who believe in us as long as we are strong."
