    Fourth grade level speech and writing are used by most newspapers, radio and TV news, anyone trying to communicate with the most people. If they are trying to impress people they speak of write at a higher level, or like you do the best they can to get to 2nd grade.

    The NYTimes and Wall Street Journal are both written at 4th grade level.

    Nothing wrong with reading easy to understand material. A lot better than pretending you're better than that, but can't keep up.
