Some roll with the punches; they are insulted, they are thick-skinned, so they can shine on those who did the insulting. They are heartily souls who can think clearly, not jump into rage, and stay the course. There are those offended by the tiniest things imaginable; they are constantly a victim class. All it takes is exposure to a different point of view than the one they hold, and they feel attacked. They could also go another way as bad; if you do not affirm their life choices as vigorously as they think you should, they are offended, they believe you hate them, and they feel they are being attacked. The ladder is on a fast track to self-destruction as they encounter the rest of the world that doesn’t cater to them the way they think they need to be.
So, when we see people lose it and start down a path of destruction against others, and many times against themselves, what common characteristics do we see?

The really great ones have both. The current version of this human being sits in their mom's basement and plays Polymarket all day long hoping they can correctly guess when Trump will launch a tactical nuke at the middle east.

The first group I've seen that fits this description is pickup driving MAGA goons in overalls with Confederate stars and bars patches on their hats, driving by peaceful protestors, spewing loud, profane comments, and shaking their sawed-off shotguns out the windows.
I think this qualifies as losing it and starting down a path of destruction against others.
@mchill saidAnyone who behaves like that I agree with you, but how you know they are MAGA Goons, that you know they are wearing overhauls with Conferderate stars and bars does not mean anything. For all you know people who dress like that could belong to left leaning KKK Democrats hating some faction in a group of peaceful protesters they dislike.

I don’t care for hateful exstremist who lean left or right. If they are acting on hate that alone shows flaws in their hearts!
@KellyJay saidThe "left" doesn't lean towards the kkk. I see the maggot clowns in my own town riding around with their giant U.S. flags blowing in the wind along with the Confederate flags. A bunch of losers. Don't piss on me and tell me it's raining.

@YEAH-BOY saidYou guys don’t know American history, maybe a rewritten version. Dem Robert Bird, remember him?

@wildgrass saidHe once belong to the KKK. Do you believe that, now that is an impossibility with today’s Democrats they do no evil like the rest of the human race?
Lol π you wanna say Robert Bird was a leftist?

The KKK Democrats switched to the Republican party not long after President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act, and Voting rights act in the later 1960s. They have been in the Republican party ever since President Nixon's 'Southern Strategy.' End of your false BS about that LIE; Mr. supposed Christian MAGA man.
AI Overview
"Richard Nixon's "Southern Strategy" was a Republican political campaign approach in 1968 and the early 1970s, designed to win over white Southern voters from the Democratic Party. It utilized coded language on "law and order," states' rights, and, according to OpenEdition Journals, a form of "racial innocence" regarding desegregation to appeal to racial anxieties without explicit racism.
Key elements of Nixon's Southern Strategy included:
"Law and Order" Rhetoric: Responding to 1960s riots and anti-war protests with promises of stability, which resonated with white voters, as noted by YouTube and in an article from ShareOK.
Opposition to Forced Desegregation: The administration slowed school desegregation efforts, distinguishing between illegal de jure segregation in the South and de facto segregation elsewhere, as seen in analysis from Southern Cultures and OpenEdition Journals.
Conservative Judicial Appointments: Attempting to appoint strict-constructionist Southerners like Clement Haynesworth and G. Harrold Carswell to the Supreme Court.
Targeting "Middle America": Using "suburban strategy" appeals that emphasized cultural conservatism and traditional values, as mentioned in articles from Southern Cultures and OpenEdition Journals.
The strategy was largely credited to campaign operatives like Kevin Phillips, who argued that Republicans could build a permanent majority by capitalizing on white voter backlash against Democratic-led civil rights legislation and cultural changes, according to The New York Times and another source from Oxford Academic. This realignment successfully flipped the South from solidly Democratic to Republican, according to studies published by the Othering & Belonging Institute and Oxford Academic."

@KellyJay saidFunnily enough, call me crazy, I started reading and thought OMG, Kelly Jay is about to do a mea culpa and confess to his earlier lack of insight and self awareness and beg us for forgiveness!

@KellyJay saidRessentiment, so spelt, is the concept which fits the phenomenon you describe. A persistent feeling of having been cheated out of an entitlement, coupled with simmering rage against a falsely accused culprit. This may affect individuals, groups, or a social stratum. They feel offended, righteously offended. Something went terribly wrong in their lives and they’re mad at the world.

@moonbus saidIf you feel entitled, that can absolutely happen, no matter how right and fair it is to all others, if you are the focus of your universe, the very center of it all. If it doesn’t go the way you want it to, reality can be horrible.

@Suzianne saidYes. We had almost a complete switch of parties as far as the progressive movement; from Johnson until Reagan in 1980; then the switch was completed.
And we've been paying for this ever since.
It's fairly clear if you look at the voting history for president of the Confederate states. They all voted 100% democrat until the voting rights and civil rights act were signed by Johnson a Democrat. The whole south went Republican over the next 15 years and are still there today.
