It is a good idea.

https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/bidens-threatened-windfall-oil-tax-unlikely-pass-us-congress-2022-11-02/

We need it for all non competitive industries.

https://www.commondreams.org/news/egg-price-gouging-ftc

It could just be that Biden and Sanders are just suggesting a windfall profits tax because they know it would never pass congress. The house will probably never draft a bill because they are so corrupt.

Could it be the continuing coverage of Biden's classified documents is to force him out because the oligarchy is mad as hell at him for trying to protect the consumer?

Democrats don't want Biden impeached, but they don't want him to run again for obvious reasons. Are democrats in favor of squeezing Biden out so the democrats have a chance of winning in 2024?

Unbelievable how much of other peoples money these energy producers are pilfering especially in the last year or so.
Every government should take everything over and above 2021’s profit line

Produce your own energy then, wear a hat made of solar panels, you might get close to powering your ph.

You sound a lot like Horsey McHorseface when she was berating the fuel Co. for putting their price up, all a smoke screen for the tax component on a liter of fuel. Fuel Co. have to risk capital on exploration in some of the harshest environments on earth, they must then send men and equipment into those environments to extract what they have found, they must then transport that product to a processing plant, at every step huge engineering challenges must be overcome, once it's processed into fuel it is delivered to very corner of the planet, even to your local gas station 1500 meters down the road. They should be getting medals.

Now what does goobermint do to contribute to this wonder of our modern age, what do they do to earn their share of the profit? What do you think their cut is in NZ kev, for sitting on their asses pooping out demands?

And you sound exactly like the misogynistic twot that you are wajoma.
You obviously haven’t been paying attention to the energy marketplace, prices have soared due to supply issues and nothing I repeat nothing to do with exploration or processing costs, that’s why it’s called a windfall tax son, the sector is making bumper profits for no extra cost or effort whilst the consumer is paying twice as much as 14 months ago.
But no the Libertarian feels his personal freedom is being infringed if the governments that represent those consumers claws some back so they can help them with their energy.
Much better to let children and the elderly informed to go cold.
You’re a real peach of a human being wajoma.

Talking about goobermint rorting the energy industry and kev comes out with 'misogynistic twot'.

Misogyny: pronounciation /mɪˈsɒdʒɪni/ noun nothing to do with energy production

Twot: ladies private parts, demeaning and slang, used by mysongynists.

kev: pronounciation retard or tardsicle

Libertarians are pro monopoly. They want to abolish antitrust laws. They maintain that competition will build a business to get profits in the same field. They need a history lesson though. JP Morgan did just that in the steel business to try to compete with Andrew Carnegie and his steel dominance. But it ended up with Carnegie selling out to JP Morgan so Morgan had a firm monopoly on steel.

One robber baron sold the entire steel market to another. That is not how the libertarians say it was supposed to work in the end. Robber barons do not play fair. They never have.

You lost the libs' attention when you used the word 'risk' in 2nd sentence. They know Nothing about risk, nor supply and demand. They do know, however, all about big Nanny government, mentioned in your 2nd paragraph.
As the libs go about their daily lives, dependent, doing god-knows-what, they are not connected to the entities producing (oil in this case).
Could the libs here please tell us at what point you should expect to share in the profits of the producers? We can stipulate that they are over there, you are over here. Like, I am in my yard, planting potatoes, you are in your yard putting together a model airplane with rubber bands.

Great post, Wajoma. Too bad it is wasted.

Pray tell, in what 'field' are the Robber Barons and Libertarians playing together? The Robber Barons as you call them are not even THINKING about the dependents. They are thinking about self-reliant independent Americans who will hopefully use their products, so that they can reinvest and build more product. But, the libs want to siphon off capital earmarked for such reinvestment.
Again, libs know nothing. They take so much for granted, as they fill up at the corner gas station. Had their daddy's siphoned off free money (we are talking free money for the libs here), the gas station would not be there.

Any monopoly. I used steel as an example. Carnegie was capable of squeezing JP Morgan out of the steel business unless Morgan could endure losing money for long. Morgan knew it and bought the monopoly and made Carnegie the richest man in the world. How did that help?

Biden could just enforce antitrust laws. Then there would be no need for a windfall tax. I suspect the windfall tax idea is just a way to lead people away from antitrust laws and how Biden is not enforcing them. Which would you prefer?

My post is a generalization for the libs here. Of course antiTrust and Monopoly laws are key to balance our society as it relates to corporations. That is a given, I simply highlight the flow or capital. There are regulations, libs, which must be followed, but the regs don't say anything about your involvement in the corporation or its profits, unless of course, you are a shareholder. A shareholder with 500K shares has more clout than does a shareholder with 200 shares, the average man. So, a majority of shareholders can join together to vote on sharing the profits anyway they want to.
I guess the libs need to tell us why they would do that. I know it would be a great gesture, but, really, why would they do that? They are in it for profit. Are you saying they should not profit, ,,,,,that, Bernie and Biden should restrict their profits? I think that is what libs are saying.

Pretty sure you made that bit up especially when the word is used in reference to someone who presents as a misogynistic Uber male
I take it all that was to divert attention from me shredding your previous post in defence of profiteering energy companies and you having no actual riposte

Yeah that’s right energy company boards work their poor little socks off.
They’ve been profiteering for years and governments have a duty and a right to claw some back for the ripped off consumer but as usual all the corporate butt lickers on here are out in their defence.
