I thought that HIV spread because closeted homosexuals were forced into heterosexual marriage by a bigoted society.

Hmm, you used the word "designed", I think I know where this is all coming from... bugger (pardon the pun). Look, the bum wasn't designed, but it does have a primarily non-sexual function. Human ingenuity can put it to other uses where the need or wish is present.
Now, if you think that homosexuality is just a choice or a sin rather than something engrained, why do you think a man like Ted Haggard would risk his career, marriage and public image for what was ultimately a homosexual fling? One of the most gay-bashing religious fundies around. When you realise that biology is not designed, that indeed it is very messy and things are not that easy to put into nice little boxes like "bums are for pooing, and nothing else", but then different rules must be applied to other orifices... see where it all goes wrong?
You'll find general principles like privacy and throwing out the idea of anyone being able to tell anyone else what they can do to their own body will get you much farther than your little functionalised view of the world.

I have never claimed that Islamism was any worse than communism but the latter is now a dead duck whereas the former is not, as yet anyway.

No, not at all.
The first cases of AIDS in the West were diagnosed in the homosexual brigade some of whom went on to infect women with their diseased members and others, notably the haemophiliacs, with their diseased blood.

Are you kidding? You can't ever depict a homosexual person as selfish, sullen or mendacious on TV without the "Gay," Lesbian, Bi- and Transgendered task force demanding that your show be taken off the air and the offending parties sacked for discrimination lest they boycott the station and its sponsors. It's even worse on something as flippant as "reality" television. When have you ever turned on the Designer Channel and seen homosexuals depicted as anything but witty, clever, creative, helpful, supportive, or "fabulous"? Unfortunately, TV is not reality; homosexuals are very sad, angry, depressed people and far more likely to commit suicide or beat their "partners" than normal people.
