You sound like it's a first visit. Give it a chance, maybe some good will come of it and I don't see how any harm can come from it. Changing behaviour usually takes some time. Stick with it and every now and then let us know how it's going.

I assume you are there for a reason. Best focus on why you are there and not if the treatment is "good." If you don't like it, they are probably telling you stuff you don't want to hear which you need to hear.

I've done it before, but it's my first visit this time round.

Missed my first appointment cause of being sick, and then the second one I went to the wrong place.

I don't know, I just don't think it's going to help me much. Probably just make me more confused, and more at risk when I am free from their cycle.
Give it a chance, my friend. Think positive about it. Make up your mind that this time it will turn out better than in the past. I know, easy for me to give advice but at least keep in mind that I sincerely wish you well.

I'll give you some straight advice. If I were looking at the prospect of going to jail, I would do a couple of things before I go see the judge. I would 1) get your psych assessment done, 2) get a sponsor, 3) go to an AA meeting every day of the week and finally 4) admit to the judge you have a problem and what you have been doing to correct it.

on the subject of your drug problems, i speak from experience that life is actually a lot easier without them (including alcohol). Imagine never having to waste all that time deciding whether or not to get wasted later, when you know you will anyway. Imagine feeling good in the morning, and being able to communicate with people you love in a meaningful way, without feeling guilty about letting them or yourself down. You can do it, it's easier than you think if you really want to change. It gets easier by the day. Time is on your side! BTW, you shouldn't feel guilty about taking drugs anyway, they are designed to attract you to them, thats why they are so popular. You are good. They are bad. 🙂

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-medication

"Self-medication is the use of drugs, sometimes illicit, to treat a perceived or real malady, often of a psychological nature.

Over-the-counter drugs are a form of self medication. The buyer diagnoses their own illness and buys a specific drug to treat it. The World Self-Medication Industry (WSMI) define self-medication as the treatment of common health problems with medicines especially designed and labeled for use without medical supervision and approved as safe and effective for such use.

A person may also self-medicate by taking more or less than the recommended dose of a drug.

Some mental illness sufferers attempt to correct their illnesses by use of tobacco, cannabis, or other mind-altering drugs. While this may provide immediate relief of some symptoms such as anxiety, the practice is now known to strongly exacerbate mental illnesses in the long run (as well as being a strong risk factor for mental illness), and often leads to addiction/dependence, and of course the side effects of long-term use of the drug. Sufferers of post-traumatic stress disorder, for example, are prone to self-medication.

Individuals also, in some cases, attempt self-medication for physical illnesses. For example, it is believed that Kurt Cobain's use of heroin partially stemmed from a painful stomach condition.

The current phenomenon in many Western societies of the widespread usage of vitamins, herbs, and other over-the-counter "supplements"--usually without the advice, supervision, or even knowledge of any licensed health professional--is another possible example of self-medication. Some observers of health behavior and medical affairs have written that this trend may arise from the desire of laymen to feel more in control of their own health--rather than relying on the more traditional medical establishment, whose motives are sometimes seen as suspect. Too, the extraordinary increases in the cost of traditional health care in recent decades--doctors, hospitals, prescriptions, etc.--in many societies has left individuals desperate to try to find a cheaper alternative to treat or prevent their own afflictions.

it's simple. do the right thing.
you're out of control. admit it to yourself, you need help.

you gotsta deal with it brother, you can't fight it on your own. appeal to a higher power .. or slide right down the tubes with the millions before you .. forgotten .. pityed .. some even loved, but never admired or respected.

your life is about to change. it can get better or worse.

you decide.
