They drive up the cost of living but they also spend money on local businesses and hire maids and such. Right wingers seem to be obsessed with attracting rich people but if you are a lower middle class renter having your neighborhood become gentrified sucks.

I don't think rich individuals moving into a city is a problem so much as huge corporations. They tend to eliminate competition and drive up prices of goods, services and even housing.

Quite illogical, that corps charge more, when in fact they MAKE more stuff, on an assembly line basis, making it cheaper to make., so the prices can be low for that very reason.

Regarding their 'driving up cost of goods..." certainly you know that when they incur more expense, ESPecially govt taxes, they simply pass it on to the consumer. It is not the corp who is actually charging you , they are simply passing their extra expense (i.e. taxes,) on to you. Dude.

Not if you own your house or apartment. If you do, or even if you have a long term lease, gentrification can make you a lot of money.

Developers made substantial profits by flipping homes from existing homeowners. Through the buying, renovating, and reselling process, developers earned, on average, a 45 percent return in a little over a year. This was made possible by acquiring properties at a bargain price.
Many homeowners in North Nashville were older, had little experience buying or selling homes, and were easily convinced to sell, despite being offered prices that were significantly lower than the market value.
“Cash for homes” offers can be very attractive for residents with limited cash on hand or who are dealing with any sort of financial emergency, are late on payments, or just need a temporary release of financial pressure.
Rising property taxes influenced some selling decisions, especially for older homeowners on fixed incomes who do not yet qualify for property tax freezes.
Some developers structured the sales process to their benefit by acting as both the realtor and the buyer.
Homeowners experienced predatory practices, including repeated calls, door knocks, and letters in the mail, encouraging them to sell their homes. Two interviewees reported having their property damaged or knew someone whose property was damaged by aggressive developers trying to acquire the property.

Improve your neighborhood, or, if you just can't get it together, move to another one. One like you, with folks like you, a culture like yours. But Don't move next to a supreme court justice or the mobs in the street will keep you awake at night . Go to a place where you will be comfortable.That is what I do. Like, if I see a hoodie in my neighorhood, I am MOVING!!!! I don't care if a preacher is wearing it.

Did I not tell you fellers to get together with like minded people, years ago, and buy cheap little rental properties . Your renters literally pay for the property . By now, you would have 10 of them. It is how I started.

It will drive up your property price and amenities follow the money but it will also drive your children out because they won’t be able to buy in the area when their time comes. It’s basically the death nell for any inter generational community already established there.

Well,, then, you should petition the govt to control that situation, put in restrictions and regulations to Control people and prices and amenities. Freeze property values. And make everyone equal!. Choke out the natural flow of things, choke out freedom of movement and investment. Equality will save the community.
