“Race” is not a well defined term when applied to humans and “racism” is even more poorly defined. Therefore it is difficult to answer.

Is it racism when Blacks in Africa abuse the Khoisan? How about Hutus vs Tutsis? Does it matter if we call it racism or not?

It seems many people feel that Whoopi is wrong in saying that the Holocaust wasn't "racism". Do you think she's technically correct?

One factor clouding this discussion is the fact that Ashkenazim, who were the ones who primarily suffered during the Holocaust, are half white.

I don't know the answer to this confusing conundrum, but to me, calling a person a jew is equiv to calling a person a Catholic. It is not a race in my opinion, but a religion. After all, their beliefs are quite diff from Christians.
It is a religious thing. AvJoe has spoken. So it shall be written, so it shall be done.

Jewishness is also a biological phenomenon - Jews are Middle Eastern Semites like Arabs. They are actually fairly closely related to Egyptians (Afro-Asiatic language groups).

They are not Aryans, nor are they pre-Aryan Europeans.

Are Ethiopian Jews white? Of course not.

“Hispanic” used in common American speech means “mestizo” which is a racial mixture. This is not completely accurate but that is how they use the word.

If used accurately “Hispanic” implies white race of the Latin subtype. Or the Latin race. Or the Mediterranean race. Or the Castilian race. Depends on your definitions.

Whoopi has a Nordic surname which many Ashkenazi Jews also have. Not quite the same thing as a “Jewish name”.

Actually, Hitler considered Jews to be "less than human". So his recategorizing of Jews as a separate race was merely an excuse to justify demonizing and mistreating them.

Latino is just the Spanish word for Latin. The way Anglos use the word is incorrect.

The way you are defining the word is simply a self serving Anglo centric definition which makes it easy to “otherize” Latin Americans.
