I just finished watching The One's presidential acceptance speech in Denver. I've got to give him his due -- The One is very charismatic. In fact, his speech was almost Hitlerian with all the talk about shared sacrifice and one people and one nation and the wolk, the wolk. Although it was short on substance, my favorite part was when The One said: "To all the naysayers, it's never been about me, it's always been about you." All I could think was: Bravisimo! I wish I had come up with that.

Except for the militarism, the racism, extreme nationalism and the like. (Funny how one second, they're all saying how "weak" he would be on foreign policy, how he'd just let the the terrorists walk all over the USA and the next second, they're comparing him to a guy that conquered 90% of Europe in 3 years.)

One thing about Obama's speech that struck me was that he said, "It isn't that McCain does not care, it is that he simply does not get it."

So what is he saying here? Is he saying that McCain is not that bright? I know the left has tried to portray Republican presidents in the past as stupid, such as Reagan and Bush etc., so is this his angle? If so, I think it a poor angle to go after McCain. After all, he has been a Senator before Obama was born and after all those years I don't know of any people who think he is stupid. At best he could try and portray him as senile I suppose but I think this angle to be risky as well since he has to face him directly in debates in the near future.

I think he was trying to paint McCain as being out of touch because he's a wealthy Washington insider.

I didn't say The One's politics were fascist; in fact, he's quite the opposite -- at heart he's a socialist. But did I say he was Hitler-like because like the almost-anti-Christ, The One is also very charismatic and has undeniable oratory gifts that could used for evil. Also, last night's apotheosis borrowed heavily from fascism's penchent for the grandiose. How could anyone watching last night not see the obvious connections with the Nuremberg rallies? With all the pomp and circumstance and the forty foot tall video monitors, the faux marble columns and the gladitorial stadium packed with the Democratic elect, it was a modern-day retelling of Leni Reiefenstahl's masterpiece of propaganda, "Triumph of the Will." The One's ascension is complete; when he defeats John McCain this fall, he can then heal the sick, pay your mortgage, get you a good union job and send your children to a good college. Hoo haw!

Man, it's just an election, not the final battle between good vs. evil!

The greatest advantage of the U.S. is that the power lies so far away from the White House, that no matter who wins an election things won't change much.

I would be worried if the CEOs from the major corporations were to be changed by people with different ideology. Now THAT would be scary!

Or perhaps it is because he clings to his guns and Bible?

Next you'll be telling us he has the pope's blessing and the local flock will be given the drum to use their balance of power to vote him in.
