@AverageJoe1 saidYou don't have the faintest clue what the actual facts of the case are, do you? Far from "standing there",
Marauder is a conflicted mess.
I always wonder when these lives come up with these weird concepts, like he is saying that the little black kid with the knife at track me should get some break for being a person of vague color, and it is quite vague, I have a little tint, myself,….that some weight be given to the color of his skin when he has just knife a man in the ...[text shortened]... marauder.
If you think about it, marauder is the man of the hour he and the Crockett woman !!!
"One 17-year-old witness who said he is entering his senior year, testified Anthony entered the Memorial tent wearing Centennial gear and people began confronting him, telling him he “probably shouldn’t be there. You need to leave our tent.” A couple of witnesses told the court that Anthony seemed to know someone else at the tent.
The witness said he joined in telling Anthony to leave, along with “numerous” members of the football team. Metcalf was a member of the football team and had been an MVP, according to his father. The witness was permitted to hold a football while testifying because, prosecutors said, he likes to have something in his hands when nervous.
Anthony began repeating “touch me and find out” as the two argued, the witness said. Anthony put his hands in his backpack, but his threat wasn’t taken seriously, he said. Metcalf leaned in to push Anthony and was stabbed, the witness added, noting he did not see the knife."

This jury found what this jury found, but it was Metcalf "bigger than Anthony by some 50 pounds" who initiated the confrontation. A jury not tainted by the Batson error previously cited may well find differently.
EDIT: Let's say the races were reversed. Does anybody here think that Cliff, Mott, Rajk, Mike, AJ and other posters here would be saying that a white 17 year old who stabbed a much larger black 17 year old leader of a group who had confronted him and then put his hands on the white kid should be convicted of murder?
Let's try some honesty.
@AThousandYoung saidLost me. He was tried as an adult, which was part of the conversation, and when you say that about someone that means he is a boy, being tried as an adult. Is that your point?
19 year old “Black boy” vs 17 year old “unarmed man”?
I bet you approve of trying this “boy” as an adult.
More code words!

@no1marauder saidThat makes it easy grounds for appeal. so relax. Also:
Are you going to continue to ignore that this was an all-white jury apparently created in blatant violation of the rules the SCOTUS set down forty years ago in Batson v. Kentucky? https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/batson_challenge
Blacks are very familiar with such behavior by prosecutors.
EDIT: I'm sorry; not all-white but excluding all blacks in the pool.
Jemele Hill says she feels 'terribly sad' for Karmelo Anthony because his lawyer was white
Tell me, No1, as a white lawyer, are you offended by such a racist remark??
TO ADD - Jemele Hill is a known black racist woman
@Earl-of-Trumps saidJemele Hill believes that Blacks are superior to Whites? Never heard of her.

A stupid comment no doubt.
@no1marauder saidJemele Hill used to be on the ever-tolerant ESPN but her hate act wore thin. They s**tcanned her.

I don't miss her
@mike69 saidNo but it is useful to look at the shoe on the other foot if you want to self reflect whether your opinion on the matter is hypocritical or not.
So now we can each go through the past and ask if we each agree on each situation, is something wrong with the topic?
Someone stabs another person, yes they belong in prison.
Someone beats up a cop, that person also belongs in prison.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidYou've expected violent riots on multiple occasions that all fell flat, maybe time to get out the prediction markets?
How widespread and violent will the riots be tonight?
How long will they go on?
Guesses?
@wildgrass saidOk, 2020

@mike69 saidThis thread is about a single crime but there were over a thousand rioters convicted of crimes and almost a hundred have committed more crimes since then, many of those violent.
Ok, 2020
You can't condemn the pardons of violent criminals who are let out of prison and then commit more crimes?
@wildgrass saidTrans Christian school mass shooting, and again and…. You’re not getting it, this topic, quit trying to justify with things that have nothing to do with the topic!

@no1marauder saidY’all have fun. If I were a racist, guess I’d have some things to say.

Boy thinks he can stab and kill another and………be exonerated?
I think not.
@AverageJoe1 saidBack in 1984, a white guy, Bernhard Goetz, shot four unarmed Black men on a subway who had approached him and asked for money. One of them was paralyzed for life after Goetz shot him a second time while he was down. He was acquitted of attempted murder and assault charges. https://www.britannica.com/biography/Bernhard-Goetz

This case seems similar except the races are reversed, Anthony used a knife instead of a more potentially lethal gun and he only stabbed one of the instigators of the confrontation once. And, of course, he was convicted.
Self-defense verdicts are sometimes hard to explain rationally compared to cases that appear quite interchangeable on their face.
@AThousandYoung saidwhy are you libs so desperate to make this a racial issue?
19 year old “Black boy” vs 17 year old “unarmed man”?
I bet you approve of trying this “boy” as an adult.

@Mott-The-Hoople saidDidn't the prosecutor do that when he struck every potential Black juror?
why are you libs so desperate to make this a racial issue?
And you and Cliff and the rest wouldn't even be talking about it except because the killer is Black and the victim White.
@no1marauder saidI was thinking just that. Apart from the tragedy itself, one life gone with all its potential robbed and the other wasted to regret their actions behind bars...
And you and Cliff and the rest wouldn't even be talking about it except because the killer is Black and the victim White.
However if the colours were reversed would the defense be trotting out some stand your ground rhetoric, and would our favourite right wingnuts on this board have been vociferously arguing for an aquital?
