I don't think so. If you consider the tens of thousands of square miles of forest that have been clear cut to make room for farmland, I think agriculture has been a disaster as far as CO2 goes.

True I guess, but once the forest has been cut, harvesting crops does not release additional CO2 into the atmosphere.

Yes, but the CO2 has been extracted from the atmosphere shorly before burning since you need to grow some bio-material to make the diesel first.
