Good for you coconut, are you aware of libertarianism?
It needn't be as gray as scottish makes out, the abolition of all victimless crimes, surely for there to be a crime there needs to be a perpetrator and a victim, when there is a willing trade of value for value, ie: drugs, prostitution, gambling, how can the victim and perp be the same person.
It also comes down to a question of who owns your life, check out this neat little animation as an intro to the philosophy of liberty.

Drugs, Prostitution, Gambling. All the things that don't hurt others, if made legal, would cut street crime and gang violence. Everything would be safer. Drug raids are a waste of time and money. Innocent people and officers get hurt because of the fight against these small things.
Originally posted by Wajomaif you believe that your actions only affect you, and therefore you shouldn't be subject to laws then that's your business I suppose. As I've pointed out before to you, we live in societies though, and everyones actions affect everyone elses, no matter how indirectly.
Can you point out where I said a man is an island....
no?
well STFU with your inane meaningless "sayings".
And the "no man is an island" is not my "inane meaningless saying", but John Donne's.

There should be laws, there must be laws, laws to protect me from you and you from me, that is the role of government.
You see I'm a great fan of the word "voluntary", it seems to be a word you have difficulty with.
And the context within which you used Donne's quote made it a meaningless saying.

and mokko. I don't do drugs, and I don't think it's a good idea for people to do to themselves. Just because I think that the government shouldn't regulate it doesn't mean I'm telling everyone to go get high with a hooker and bet your house on the roulette wheel.
