as soon as you show me a gun getting up on its own a shooting someone
@shavixmir saidI can show you plenty of addicts that would kill to get drugs…it is no longer the individuals decision, the addiction takes over.

The drug is making the person do that, that is where your analogy falls apart.

@mott-the-hoople saidWait you really don't see the parallels?

It's not a specific drug, addiction is a mental illness. Mass shooters also suffer from mental illness. The analogy only breaks down in the sense that mass shooters want to kill other people instead of themselves.

@AThousandYoung
Y'all get over it. Guns are going nowhere. Even if you libs take over , you will never be able to do it. Not even mine, I assure you. I have a Purdey, do you really think I would let that be discovered?
Opioids and gun violence suck. I wouldn't want to live in a city that has a lot of either.
But let's face facts, the police allow unfettered drug abuse which often leads to death.
The druggies are quite public about it, often being homeless. What they add to an area is a harsh visual and the smell of death.
Horrible to have to live next to it. It gives me the creepazoids just thinking about it.
@wildgrass saidExactly this

@mott-the-hoople saidHey halfwit are they getting the fentanyl legally, are the fentanyl smugglers lobbying congress for tax breaks and greater relaxation of the fentanyl laws
the shooters and the drug dealers

EXACTLY why banning guns wont work.
Yet you are too stupid to see it.

@mott-the-hoople saidMost off the mark reply of my day so far well done.

I’m sure people are worried about the amount of illegal fentanyl on the street, I’m also sure people are concerned about the amount of legal and illegal guns in the wrong hands.
It’s almost as if people can worry about two separate problems at the same time 🙄

@mott-the-hoople saidMaybe too difficult a concept for you, but public safety priorities should absolutely be focused on mitigating bad behavior that affects other people.

Drug overdoses are tragic and a lot is being done to help them with mental illness and keep drugs out of their hands.
But guns are used by mentally ill people to kill kids in schools and moms in shopping malls. Getting guns out of people's hands who have neurological illnesses is absolutely going to lessen the numbers and severity of these events.
The debate should be about the best methods to get guns out of the hands of mentally ill people, not whether or not it should be done at all.
@mott-the-hoople saiddumbass, we do have a problem with drug deaths. we regulate drugs. some are illegal.
how many shooting deaths in said city is a tidal wave?
as you can see in my post drug deaths are twice that of gun deaths…you only have a problem with the lesser…why is that?
we make laws for drugs, some good some bad but nobody is saying regulating drugs just doesn't work and everyone should be allowed to just buy any drug they want
@shavixmir saidDoes it, now?
There does seem, to me, to be a slight difference between overdosing and shooting a class full of other people…
That being said, besides the article you refer to being extremist crap, the drugs problem itself does seem rather worrying.
Joe allows fentanyl to be admitted into our country. He does nothing to turn it around. Nothing. Sits a beach.
Shav? Does this seem rather 'worrying' to you? SOme of you would rather write about Trump, (red herring), but to me this is more 'worrying'.
@mott-the-hoople saidWhy does SHav keep writing about guns. We have reams of posts on guns.

Advise him turn on the news or get a newspaper, and find some new stuff that we need to resolve..Hunter for instance, filed a false gun permit application, which carries a 10 yr penalty, but was let go. How about imprisoning your polirical opponents? The ex-pres is being fingerprinted right now by a county prosecutor.
His prosecution conveniently is scheduled to....get rid of him. Putin just got rid of an opponent yesterday.
Please bring Shav up on all this. Tell him to google Victor David Hanson for the real truth. A Hoover Institution Senior fellow. Democracy is in jeopardy. You might get Sonhouse to look at it. This action today is in itself election interference, if you think about it.

I’m pointing out the contradiction in your argument about who’s to blame for drugs related deaths and who’s to blame for gun related deaths.
It’s supposed to give you pause, so you may be enlightened. But you double down and red herring your way out of it.
The point being that your hypocrisy, even when exposed to you, is unacceptable to you to help you comprehend the mistakes in your logic.
These are indoctrinations over a long period of time and nothing said on this forum will ever be able to de-program it.
