Right where I am, Switzerland. We have enough to eat and accountable politicians. The trains run on time. Can America say the same?
Kind of.

We have too much to eat and everyone hates the politicians no matter what they do.

As for the trains, I guess it depends on where. The major subway systems generally run pretty well and Amtrak in the northeast corridor is okay. In the rest of the country, people don't use trains for inter-city travel. As for the planes, well, let's just say pray for good weather.

Too much to eat of the most unhealthy rubbish!

Expats not very happy living in this aloof country, very tight social groups, you have to be born there. USA is friendlier. It is extremely expensive. I could go on. I myself might like it though, as the culture is not too varied, which is a negative for some people.

Americans are very unhappy. The MAGA crowd (Make America Great Again) think they were cheated out of something they had an entitlement to, back when America was great before (whenever that was), and Trump taps into that mass anger and resentment. The Libs are unhappy too, that the MAGA faction dragged the sensible centrist Republicans off-course.
You are right. Each side has a different idea about, politically, how things should be. That is 24/7 on the Forum. Like, libs think that wealth should be 'spread around', conservatives think that we should keep what we earn, such as that. That is,, NOT spread it around.
But as to the issue, being happy, day to day living is quite a happy concept in the USA. How bout one of you USA guys tell us what you like, or don't like, as a US citizen. Try doing it without mentioning politics, or other people or their stuff. 🤔

How about the rate of gun shot wounds and killings per hundred thousand? Speaks volumes about the level of unresolved anger in America. We have guns here in Switzerland too, but the gun shot rate per hundred thousand is orders of magnitude lower. It's not about guns per se, it's about the threshold for using them in anger.

I am not a ex-patriot. I never was a patriot!

For the record, born in Texas. Glad I left. Good riddance, mutually.

I am pretty sure the rulers are happy in all of those countries and the wealthy too.
If you were a wealthy person in a poor country what would you be sad about?

Exactly.

Gun culture in America is too tied to certain Americans' self-worth. Testosterone also plays a part.

Well, to apply that point of view to the issue of happiness in the uSA, I myself am REAL unhappy about various goings on, like that very mess in Congress. I am the MOST unhappy about giving away our country by opening up our citizenry to any and all cultures, come one come all.
Would you like a swarm of aborigines with their customs infiltrating your country? You don't have to answer that, Shav.
So, yeah, AvJoe aint so happy either.

Do you ever wonder how the Aborigines felt about swarms of Europeans infiltrating THEIR country?
