How the hell do these jokers get elected?

A climate change initiative, spearheaded by London Mayor Sadiq Khan, is recommending against buying more than three items of clothing a year, privately owning a car and flying more than once every three years. The C40 Climate Leadership group comprises, in its own words, “a network of nearly 100 mayors of the world’s leading cities that are united in action to confront the climate crisis”, and has commissioned a report making suggestions for how cities can halve their greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Khan, who chairs the C40 group, has received backlash from Londoners following this month’s Ulez expansion. Though the C40 Cities initiative, under the guise of the Clean Air Wins campaign, has shared videos in favour of Ulez, the Wall Street Journal this week highlighted the less highly-publicised proposals in its report, authored in collaboration with the University of Leeds, such as “no meat, no dairy and no private vehicles”. Also suggested is travelling by plane only once every three years, which the WSJ compares to the policies of “climate lockdowns”.

Yeah, those BASTURDS trying to keep ahead of climate change where the CO2 is piling up in the atmosphere and 2023 clocked in as the hottest of any year since records are kept.
I guess for you, just ignore all that, let the ice packs all melt where there won't BE a London OR Miami OR Bahamas or Santa Monica, I guess that would be viewed as an improvement.
I suppose you are one of those climate change deniers, mankind is WAY too insignificant to have any effect on our infinite Earth.
BTW, we know exactly what they are talking about when they say don't buy so many stupid clothes, 40 years of us having 8 kids and dealing with their kids and so forth has left us with literally hundreds of pounds of clothes we just gave away and there is still more floating around our house, like we really need ten flipping coats or 4 hundred pair of undies?

Do you need the govt to tell you that you are buying more clothes than you need?

@Rajk999
It wasn't ME buying all those stupid clothes. If I want a vest or some such I go to Goodwill where at least more than one person has made the use of a single piece of clothing. Like right now I am wearing a robe I bought some 30 years ago and it is still acting like a robe all that time so why would I need 4 more?

Who was buying those 400 pairs of undies then?

My kids who were still living here even when they were married and hadn't moved out and when they did they left all their crap in the house and we are still cleaning up after them and one biggie is all the damned clothes they left behind.
We never taught them buying tons of clothes was good, it was fukking ads on TV that convinced them of the right thing to do.

You appear to be a smart guy from you other posts, so if you are concerned about the environment, you should have educated your family about conservation. You failed. Dont blame the ads... thats a lame excuse. Man up, tell your family about conservation and protecting the environment and if most people do that, there would be no need for draconian laws about conservation.

These same jokers who are going to make laws to control people will not adhere to these laws. They will still get to travel freedl, eat meat, buy their cars and new clothes. It is the ordinary man who will suffer.

Uhuh. Even if this was true, the chances of success are so small, it’s laughable.

Like 9 million people are suddenly going to stop eating burgers and cheese.

Thats a separate point. He will fail with such an agenda. But notice that there are people [sonhouse for eg], who think this is a viable and desirable option. Leaders all over the world are misguided and have policies which make no practical sense. I cannot seem to find evidence that this is fake news.

Nowhere does Sonhouse say the plan is viable.

Stop making crap up.

You write the wrong people. Write to John Kerry Climate Czar, still flying all over the world in a private jet, spewing carbon. I think he gets email in the lounge area.
