@averagejoe1 saidLeaf blowers, gas or otherwise, are dangerous. They blow toxic particles (such as bird excrement) up into the air where people breathe it in. Leaves should be raked up.

@shavixmir saidOMG in the US we call petrol gasoline, or gas for short.
So, the petrol you use isn’t liquid?
Not talking about natural gas.
You claim you've spent time in the US?
@jj-adams saidPeople that have never been to the US know this about the US, people that claim to have lived there and do not know it???

Shatmixir stinks worse than Billingsgate Fish Market.
@moonbus saidI agree. However, leaves should be left in place as much as possible or carefully raked into beds or a spot where they can rest for winter. It is a myth that a thin layer on your lawn will kill the useless green carpet. Many beneficial invertebrates are overwintering in the leaves. Blowing, especially, and raking can kill them. Dead plant material is Nature's compost and favored by all plants. "Cleaning Up" your yard just makes it visually appealing to dumb humans who prefer a cartoon version of Nature. I use a minimal amount of lawn to set off gardens which are 75% native plants. Natural flagstone paths wind through the gardens and I dug a large pond and planted a meadow. It's such fun watching wildlife on my half acre property. My neighbors are not happy. They pay to poison their yards despite the fact we all have rather shallow wells and live on as lake. I suspect their gardening method is doing damage to the groundwater and the lake.

You mean petrol powered? Or do you actualky use gas in lead blowers??
You know, short for gasoline?
@shavixmir saidWhat is this 'petrol' you speak of?

Oh, British slang. We don't speak British. I'm surprised you do.
@averagejoe1 saidThey used rideable tractors to pull this big rake thing behind them.
We agree. Every time one cuts off I holler as loud as I can, hoping I am heard by everyone, “THANKYOU!!!!!!!” But, it usually cuts on again. Oh, he missed a leaf.
I play golf in the south. Very leafy indeed. Query: what did golf courses do 50 years ago when there were only rakes.?
They used even more gas.

You could rake your entire two islands in one day, right?
