What he doesn't realise is that the surface station records only confirm what's found everywhere else and are part of a HUGE volume of knowledge. He does know that every he puts forth a scientific argument it'll be picked apart and he won't be able to find a rebuttal, so he avoids it entirely. He's a denier, not a sceptic.
