Meat in a vat

Meat in a vat

So I'm reading the Economist and I come across an article that says one day we will grow meat in a vat -- whole mountains of the stuff -- and it will be healthier for you and animals won't have to suffer, etc.

Two questions:

If you are a vegetarian who practices for "moral" reasons, would this development cause you to change your dietary habits?

If you're a carnivore, does it matter that your meat was grown in pool of nutrient broth rather than chased down and killed on the African veldt?

I like my burgers to be built on suffering, blood, and sounds
of pain in the slaughterhouse.

The pain begins with the branding...

Medium rare for me, thanks.

it doesn't make any difference. humans will eat all kind of crap as long as it tastes good. how many varieties of salami you eat without knowing what species are in it. does anyone know what is in a McDonald burger? because i don't and that doesn't taste like meat. for all we know, we might be eating synthetic meat right now.

i saw that movie when i was like five and it scared the hell out of me. that and chuckie.

on another note, who cares if you are eating people(as long as the people were already dead), it's the nutrients you need. of course, knowing where the nutrients came from is not advisable.

Yes, lets eat people. Good idea. Cows eat dead cows in their feed and nothing goes wrong there does it?

Did your parents eat people by any chance?

I don't really care in principle if I'm eating people, except that this is a good way to get sick. The problem is in how you get the meat.

you are missing the point. i am not saying that it is moraly good to eat people i am saying that your body doesn't care.

and if you are stuck in a remote place with absolutely no food and your best friend dies, you would be an idiot not to eat him. and just so we are clear, not even then it isn't moraly right to eat him. but it is the logic thing to say.
