Well, seemingly old Bobby there has people misquoting and misunderstanding all over the bloody place.

Bet he never thought he’s cause a muddle on an internet chess site.

John McEnroe Says Serena Williams Would Rank 700 In Men’s Tennis. He’s Actually Right.

McEnroe explained that while there is “no question” Williams is the “best female player ever,” the men’s circuit “would be an entirely different story.”

Looking at Williams’ Universal Tennis Rating (UTR), which is the assigned numerical rating to all tennis players — both men and women — ranging on a 0 to 16.39 scale, the female athlete rates at 13.36, whereas dominant male tennis players like Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic rate at 16.26 and 16.27 respectively. The scale places Williams on-par with average men’s college players (ranks about 97th out of the top 125 college men’s singles) and nowhere near top-world-ranked men.

The best Duchess can do is pretend that "average" isn't commonly used to mean "ordinary". Yawn.

Duchess claimed I brought up Riggs instead of another poster and is embarrassed, yet again, she misread something. All she had to do is admit error and move on, but she keeps digging her own grave. Where did I make a "comparison" with Riggs? Where did I claim Riggs was an "ordinary" player?

Duchess' responses are now fueled by a hurt ego.

There's only one poster who's confused on this thread.

Yep. My dad was a Maths teacher.

He used to tell me 'half of my students are below average'

Took a while to work it out (mean average for the class, maybe more accurately 'almost all'

"He's an average man" basically means the same thing as "he's an ordinary man".

Meanwhile Duchess thought I brought up Riggs when I didn't, and somehow thought I said he was an "ordinary" player.

So while I, posting from memory, confused two similar words, Duchess' poor reading comprehension causes her to think I said not one but two things I never even came close to saying. Which is the greater error here?

This is Duchess being embarrassed, yet again, at her faulty reading comprehension. So Duchess will keep harping on my minor error while trying to divert attention from her repeated mental shortcomings.

I'm completely fine with this.

You imagine reading things that were never said. Own up to your mental falures.

@Duchess64

Oops...should check predictive text more carefully. Of course, I meant 'median'. Thanks

From memory, I posted an incorrect but similar word.

You imagined entire statements that were never said.

Which is worse?
