Think of it, as far back as 1975 the US government had the power to monitor pretty much all communication at home and abroad.

The warning of the potential to abuse such power was also noted, but ignored.

Republican Richard Nixon was doing that to Democratic headquarters, protesters against the VietNam war, and anyone he considered a political enemy earlier than that Whodey. Ronald Reagan did the same thing in the 80's. I didn't hear anyone from the right wing sniveling about big government listening in when they did it.

You cherry pick only the side of the story you want people see.

Well it’s either an abuse of power or it’s not mate, I’m sure that wouldn’t change over time or be conditional on skin colour and party political affiliations.

mchill, Nixon was thrown out of office for chirssake. It was wrong. Not, I said "was". Today it is the norm.

and you are full of bull about right wingers. the Repubs told Nixon he was going to lose in an impeachment because they would not support him and that's why Nixon resigned.

You have a wonderful imagination. Too bad you believe it is reality.

Then perhaps you forget about the Democrats employing the Internal Revenue Service to attack Republican, Tea Party, and Conservative organizations.

Perhaps you forget the Democrats using the FBI to spy on candidate Trump.

Neither really occurred, so it's easy to "forget" them.

Why would my post make you think that?
Have either of these events been proven to be orchestrated by the Dems for political purposes or was just the IRS and the FBI doing their jobs, I mean outside of the Trumposphere obviously.
Perhaps the Dems are at it again with the outing of that republican inside trader chap, it’s a sin it really is.

Nixon should have gone to jail, but at least back then there were enough checks and balances to force him to resign.

Today, not so much.

And if any Left wingers had any intellectual honesty left, since they purport to believe all the conspiracy theories about Trump, he is still there, so they would have to agree, but won't.

Nope, just wait till Orange man is gone and ignore all of the corruption once again.

I must protest!

Democrats NEVER break the law!

How dare thee!

Since 1965....

DEMOCRATS.........25 years in power
3 indictments
1 conviction
1 prison sentence
REPUBLICANS.......28 YEARS IN POWER
120 indictments
89 convictions
34 prison sentences

Trump might go to jail ?

No, what I'm saying is that Left wingers believe Trump has broken a myriad of laws and is a Putin spy to boot, yet nothing is done about it.

This means that either you don't really believe he is guilty of these things or you believe that the checks and balances of power at the Federal level are gone.

Which is it?

If the truth be know, Leftists are pleased as punch that so much power is centralized and corrupt, they just want to control it is all, so they wait.

Trumposphere - now there's a word.
