I like Alvera street. I also LOVED Venice Beach but of course you would expect that from a hippy bum musician🙂 except I was actually PAID money to play in my band back in the day. Now all I can do because we can't get music gigs any more, is compose, I have 200 tracks now on Soundcloud, little pat on the back for my 80 year old frame.

@athousandyoung saidAwesome!
The New Jersey has a whole youtube series talking about it:

@jimm619 saidIt was the Yamato, the Japanese flagship.
Was it 'The Bismark,' that had 18 inch guns,
or was it a Japanese Gunboat?
German battleships actually had fairly weak guns. The Bismarck had 15 inch guns. Their ships were very heavily armored though.

@jimm619 saidIt was where the Japanese surrender was signed, ending WW2.
Yup.....paradise......You?
It was said that 'Big Mo,' was kept around
for so long because of a special affection that
Truman had for the battle wagon named after his home state.
Since 1998, she's served as a museum ship docked not far from the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, HI.

Near our state capitol building in Phoenix, is a display of two battleship guns, one from the USS Arizona and one from the USS Missouri, representing the beginning and end of WW2. I believe the anchor from the USS Arizona is still there as well.
@sonhouse saidI spent so much time in Venice Beach in the 2000s that my hair lightened by a few shades. It's more brassy now that I am older.

@mchill saidDefense is not just defense. It's an industry. They spend over $100 million per year just on lobbying the government to keep spending money on things that don't make sense to spend money on.
Before we decide to further "beef up our military" please consider just a few reasons to stop blindly throwing money at every national security problem we face.
The Navy wants to decommission 9 ships, none of them over 10 years old, that cost 4.5 billion of our tax dollars. The 9 ships in question, part of a total group of 24 ships to be decommissioned, are described by th ...[text shortened]... -of-ships-suck-and-they-need-new-ones/ar-AAW16Hw?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=05a2582aebbd4026ae5f3fe9d4c7c7ef
The other story you missed here is that the Pentagon audited itself and found hundreds of millions per year in excess spending on administrative waste. But they never did anything about it and congress just kept raising their budget. There's no accountability and no interest in fixing it.
EDIT: I previously wrote that there excess administrative spending was hundreds of millions. Nope. Wishful thinking. That number is $125 BILLION. They admittedly waste that much just on administration, but their budget keeps going up? Huh?

@wildgrass saidDid you say waste spending? You are right,,,,don't you think it should be stopped?Look what Biden is up to with the newly -printed trillions . Lets stop it already. I am with you !!
