@wildgrass saidOk I got that. Where in the article [or any other article] does it say that this American got rich off American taxpayers. Referring to a Budget for the year 2025/26, cannot possibly explain why a ranch developer got rich over the last 30 to 40 years. Or is that you generally hate rich people.
You're confused. The incident happened in Africa but Asher Watkins made his million off the backs of taxpayers via US farm aid.
@Great-Big-Stees saidGood one.
I guess the reference to “cape” in it’s name does give one/me the idea that it is a kind of “super” buffalo.🤔👍
These criminal hunters lured a lion away from a park and killed it for £35,000. The lion was being studied by Oxford.

Legendary lion Blondie studied by Oxford boffins is lured from reserve and shot dead by sick trophy hunter in £35k kill.
Blondie was fed chunks of rotting meat from the back of a truck to slowly entice him away from the protection of the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, it has been claimed.
His tragic death has chilling echoes of the slaying of Cecil the Lion in July 2015.
How much of the £35,000 actually went to wildlife conservation or benefited the local South African/Zimbabwean communities?
I didn't hear Trump raising trophy hunting in his meeting with the South African President.
@congruent saidIt seems, though not yet proven, that he, Trump, likes “trophies” of a different species.🤔

@Rajk999 saidI generally hate government handouts to millionaires who use taxpayer money to fund their safaris.

The handouts in the US are insane and getting worse. All at the same time, we have less money supporting people who can't afford to buy the food.
@wildgrass saidGreat .. mee too ... so where is the proof that this man in particular got rich off American taxpayers. The problem seems to be you categorizing all rich farmers as leeches and sucking money from the Govt illegally.

@congruent saidSounds like you got a serious case of hypocrisy going on there. In America, trophy hunting is a very big business, with over 15,000,000 hunters generating hunderds of millions in revenue.

The only issue I have with that is ensuring that the population of animals are not affected.
In South Africa and Zimbawe, two dirt poor countries, the people are entitled to sell rights to shoot animals, to trophy hunters, if this activity ensures that populations are not affected, and the money is used wisely... just like you all do in the US.
@Rajk999 saidOh no it's not illegal. It's a corrupt system that rewards politicians with endorsements and cash in exchange for handout.

Farm handouts totaled $55 billion in 2020, so many people became millionaires from this money. But this guy in particular benefits from the absurdly low property taxes paid by farmers relative to residential land. Ranch property is valuable because of farm subsidies.
@wildgrass saidOk, I got the point, however Im not sure it is correct neither is it fair, to say that all rich farmers have become rich because of corrupt politicians and/or unfair subsidies. Certainly, some of that is going on in all countries.

@Rajk999 saidOf course corruption isn't specific to the US. But our government just cut medical research funding by 40% with the goal of saving money, while at the same time cranking up spending on direct payouts to farmers. Surely that is backwards thinking economically speaking, driving out the high skill innovators and rewarding folks who cannot turn a profit on their own.

There's a huge cornfield near my house that has flooded out in 6 of the last 10 years before harvest. The farmer keeps planting it because he knows the government pays him even if no corn grows. In fact, it's better if it floods because then he gets a check without having to harvest it.
The value of that land should be next to nothing. You can't build on it, you can't grow on it, it's a floodplain. But it's still worth millions and made the farmer a millionaire because of corruption. Ironically he's a conservative who opposes government bailouts in every other sector of the economy except his own.

to a whole different level 🙄
@Mott-The-Hoople saidHolland, Germany, Spain, France and Argentina.
Where do you think the food you eat comes from? 😳
Why?
@Mott-The-Hoople saidUS grown Food comes from a corrupt cronycapitalist system that milks taxpayers out of $55 billion a year (not including all their tax subsidies and no interest loans) to fund African safaris for themselves.
Where do you think the food you eat comes from? 😳
Farmers should just charge what it costs to grow the food and stop asking taxpayers to buy them manicures at the salon.
