@Rajk999 saidThis industry in the US is propped up by government money so that farms are too important to fail. That's fine.
There are about 2,000,000 farms in the USA. So 10,000 of them receive some kind of subsidy. I dont think this is as extreme as you think. All countries subsidize agriculture and farming because it is a critical industry, and having to rely on imports is a no-no.
But I don't think that same industry, propped up by the government, should also be producing extreme wealth.
American farmers don't need the money.
@wildgrass saidThe value of US agricultural output is on average $543,000,000,000 pa. Did you say the subsidy went up to $34 billion ? Thats about 6%. A small subsidy really.

@Rajk999 saidYup, they don't need it. That's what the cato article says.

The $34 billion number is now higher thanks to trump. He gave them more money and didn't even say what it was for.
A waste of tax dollars. The administration that claims to want to shrink government has accelerated spending once again on junk that helps the rich but doesn't help taxpayers
@wildgrass saidTell us more how he exploited people or was unfair to taxpayers. That is what a negative connotation of the phrase is.
You're confused. The incident happened in Africa but Asher Watkins made his million off the backs of taxpayers via US farm aid.

@AverageJoe1 saidMy comment was about the backwards economy, not his actions. He took advantage of a corrupt system. Tax money should not be supporting rich farmers extravagant lifestyles.

@wildgrass saidCan we compare that to democrats giving $600 million for fuk rubbers in Africa?

@wildgrass saidThen,, Wildgrass, why did you not write what you meant? That which you just explained. You had us all thinking that you were writing about this business man.

I keep trying to tell you debaters to speak like we are sitting at a coffee shop. But your trying to be clever (only sue gets to do that) leaves us thinking 'what the hell is hetrying to impart to us, that we can discuss with our families tonight?"
Your post is lost to the sonhouse bins.

@wildgrass saidNOW we have to decipher 'that was the deal'. You would say that me and ole Buddy at a coffee shop, after we've shot a few ducks in a local buttonwood pond?
