"Thousands of FBI cellphones were affected by the technical glitch that the DOJ says prevented five months’ worth of text messages between FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page from being stored or uploaded into the bureau’s archive system".

Yep, technical glitches have become an epidemic, like they did with Hillary and the IRS.

What are the odds?

@Metal-Brain

Listen, just because Flynn was not read his Miranda rights is no big deal, nor is it a big deal that Trump and company were not notified when they should have been.

Stop your crying. It's all on the up and up.

Speaking of Strzok, I smell Trump supporters here.

Say, are there any married women here I can have an affair with who also smell the stench?

They don't test for glitches before they use it for important stuff?
Are they incompetent?

It's standard FBI protocol to remove usage on phones, when people return them. There's also no policy directive mandating collection and preservation of text messages by ESOC.

Besides the OIG forensically recovered a total of 20.000+ messages from the two phones from the failure period.

For me this is clearly, as in very clearly, another attempt to sow fear and division towards the FBI, the government and the Mueller investigation. It's a non-case meant for conspiracy theorists and the Trump fan base!

This must be the only criminal investigation in history where law enforcement officers were required to divulge to suspects years worth of text messages.

In other words, there is no policy to preserve evidence.

You only are read your Miranda rights when you are arrested or subject to custodial interrogation; Flynn's voluntary interview with the FBI was neither.

Read the conclusion of the report.

Neither the FBI nor the DOJ currently has a policy directive mandating collection and preservation of text messages by ESOC and that the identification and retention of substantive electronic communications is left to the judgment of the individual employee. FBI Policy 0423D guides employees regarding what communications are considered "substantive" and also informs employees that they must not use personal electronic devices to communicate about cases.

EDIT: And
The OIG forensically recovered thousands of text messages from FBI mobile devices issued to Strzok and Page through its multiple extraction efforts. Approximately 9311 text messages were recovered from Strzok's S5 during the collection tool failure period. Approximately I0760 text messages were recovered from Page's S5 during the collection tool failure period. The OIG's forensic recovery efforts also identified additional relevant text messages from outside the collection tool failure period.
