This came up because my local sports radio station brought up the subject of what you do after the Super Bowl. My answer is easy - go on a museum run and catch up on movies you wanted to see or are such a part of the lexicon that not seeing them renders you the cinematic equivalent of the kid that had to wear a helmet to school. I know I've got holes, but I'm not sure where they are. So help me fill them in and explain why they belong on the list. Obvious inclusions - I'll start the list off.
The Godfather and II (III was horse[EDITED])

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

What makes a film "a must see" though?
Arguably, Titanic is a must-see film. Not because it was good, but because contempory culture refers to it a lot. So, not having seen it, means you miss out (piss-takes on the balcony scene, for example).
Arguably, Father of the bride part II is a must see film. Why? Because it's probably the worst film I've ever witnessed in my life. Even worse than Plan 9 from outer-space (which, incidentally, isn't bad in a good way... just utter rubbish).
However, I reckon my list of films would look like this (and in short why):
- Star Wars IV (because it's my childhood and probably formed me to some extent).
- The big Lebowski (funniest film I've ever seen)
- The Rocky Horror Picture Show (go see the London midnight screening on a Friday night... if it's still on... an ýou'll lose your virginity).
- Pulp Fiction (Totally enjoyable, funny, violent and best dialogues ever)
- Grease (best supporting cast ever... brilliant songs and I was in love with Rizzo).
- No country for old men (no soundtrack... and a powerhouse of a movie).
- Soilent green (because of the end).
There's two other films I'll add to this mix for reasons which shouldn't put them in a top list, but I think it does:
- The Blues brothers (second best comment in the history of movies: "We play both kinds of music... country and western."😉
- Once upon a time in Mexico (best comment in the history of the movies: "Are you a Mexican or a Mexican't?"😉

Parallel cinema is the best, Smita Patil, Om Puri, Shabana Azmi and Nana Partaker etc
