Epidemiologists, believing it unfair to hang the blame on Spain, call it the 1918 flu pandemic. Just imagine how many slanderous errors the world would have to absorb if it weren't for nitpickers.
If Spain was where that flu was first known to show up, any reasonably intelligent adult would understand this doesn't necessarily mean it originated in Spain. I wouldn't worry over what some people assume was the origin of any particular virus, but some have used that example as an excuse to say the corona virus didn't originate in China, and therefore it wasn't China's fault the virus got loose... in China.

This gives cause for some of us to say "Huh, say what?"

Because it doesn't matter where the virus originated. It wasn't a local problem for China, and a worldwide problem for everyone else, until it got loose from a virology lab where?

A. Spain
B. China
C. Hoboken, New Jersey
D. Antarctica

Famously, the reason that flu outbreak became associated with Spain is because Spain was neutral in World War I, and therefore its press was not subject to wartime censorship. Accordingly, in 1918 they covered the flu in detail whereas British, French and German newspapers were relatively silent about it. This created the false impression that Spain was particularly badly hit - especially when King Alfonso XIII fell seriously ill with it.

Why this obsession with Sweden in this forum? We are a comparatively small nation and yet you seem to think of little else.
The Left wing world does not like nonconformity.

Why do you all have to be upstarts and think for yourselves?

You will all pay for this!

Disclaimer: And had any other country done the same the results would have been apocalyptically bad, so don't any other countries think they can do the same.

COVID, Bird flu, Ebola, Foot & Mouth, Rabbies ets, etc. Bubonic whatever, society changes & has to to survive. Look at history, change your ways, survival of the fittest & culling of the weak.

The global impact in any state in any country. People ARE dying. This is not Hollywood. There are individuals who think that this is just something that happens to other people until it's there for you, at the end of the your path.

This obsession is nothing compared to their obsession with Trump. Would you like to go over to the Arts and Craft Forum with me?

Sorry, we don't have an Arts and Craft Forum. Trump has no talent or interest in either.
