I've started many threads about Canada but they die quickly because there aren't many canadians on here and most people that aren't canadian have no clue about canada (esp americans)

The only reason the US is worth talking about is because you guys have a big giant military that you insist on using to blow people up. 400 million lunatics with guns means the rest of us have to keep an eye on you guys
Just for the record, I have started many threads about Canadian politics. Specifically the last thread was about legislation proposed by Dudley Do Right to allow Canadian Mounties to not have to wear those silly red uniforms. For some reason, however, just like you people did not seem to take an interest for some reason. :'(

Because the US has a giant military other countries feel they can sham us by keeping their militaries small, knowing The US will come to their rescue. They, therefore, can afford to spent their billions on social programs while those real needy American eat S***. Nice game you guys are playing. Actually, it's PATHETIC! Start bucking up when Obama takes office. Defend yourself or get Russia to be your nursemaid. Our money will be spent on Nat'l HealthCare and Nat'l everything else.

I would rather spend money on helping people than spend money on killing people - or as you so quaintly put it, 'defense'.

Yes, exactly. But the US has this notion that we have to police the world and therefore THE US has little money left over to Help US citizens in need. Screw the rest of the world. Sorry (NOT), that's just the way it is.
Now, if you want a military....buck the hell up! We've got our own people to take care of.

Defense isn't quaint. It's life or death. Take care of yourselves Badass.

Hardly. They were principled men who risked everything, including their property and death, to overthrow a tyrannical regime.

I'll agree that Obama would experience similar foreign policy problems like the inexperienced Kennedy did should he be elected. Apart from that, I don't think they have much in common. Kennedy at least knew that in order to grow the economy, you don't tax and regulate it to death.

Do us a favor, don't post any more threads about Canada. It just cluters things for the real issues.

When Canada speaks...does anybody listen? Canada has an impact on its own defense, as much as it has an impact on world issues. Not much.

The only way to make change, whether it is through peace, economics, or war, is from a position of strength. That is why Peru, Italy, nor Canada are consulted on the big decisions.

I hope not -- that would mean Biden would be in charge and Pelosi would be next in line for succession.

Why? When you spend money on killing our enemies, then they become dead or locked up in prisons and never bother you again. When you give money to "help" people, you're taking opportunities away from the people who earned the money and their families, but the recipients never feel grateful and end up resenting you more and come to expect more and more welfare. Perhaps we should kill the people who need "help" and give welfare to our enemies?

The reason other countries have small militaries -- and this is the same reason the NATO countries laughed when Obama went to Germany and asked them to help out more in Afghanistan -- is that it costs a lot of money to run a social welfare state. These entitlements eat up a lot of the budget and quite frankly, there's not much left for defense.

Let's clear up a few blatant errors shall we?

Because the US has a giant military other countries feel they can sham us by keeping their militaries small, knowing The US will come to their rescue.

Uh, no. Canada's military size is proportionally similar to the US's. We have 30 million people that live in our country. You have 400 million. Do you expect us to have as big and expensive a military as you have?

They, therefore, can afford to spent their billions on social programs while those real needy American eat S***. Nice game you guys are playing. Actually, it's PATHETIC!

uh, no. We choose to tax our citizens at a higher rate than you do. This is why our governments can afford social programs like health care.

Start bucking up when Obama takes office. Defend yourself or get Russia to be your nursemaid.

Defend ourselves from whom? Who is attacking Canada? We have a military that is designed for peace keeping and assisting with re-construction and dealing with insurgencies after countries like the US leave to go fight somewhere else...ala Afghanistan
