@earl-of-trumps saidwasnt fired
@Soothfast
In my opinion, I feel strongly parents should have a say, as the students are their children, and they pay the taxes that makes it all go.
In this case here, the parents say "no", but I'd have to see more particulars to say if the firing of the teacher was Ok to do.
@sh76 saidSo how do parents handle nudity in cities everwhere in Europe?
I would not say it's pornographic and I don't think children should be banned from museums or exhibitions displaying its likeness, but it's quite reasonable for parents to decide they don't want their 11 and 12 years olds exposed to it (no pun intended) and that decision should not be made unilaterally by the school.
I mean, there’s nude statues on the streets of Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Rome, etc.
Rotterdam has a statue nicknamed Gnome butt plug (looks like Santa Claus holding up an icecream cone of sorts).
Nudity is everywhere and it’s alright. Nothing wrong with nude bodies.
@shavixmir saidOh god this is a couple of parents at a charter school objecting to it, why do you people act like it's a government policy across all of America?

Just google nude public statues in America there's plenty of them around.
@soothfast saidNo. And no.

Florida parents upset by Michelangelo’s ‘David’ force out principal
A Florida charter school principal said she was forced to resign this week after some parents complained about their sixth-grade students being shown images of Michelangelo’s “David” statu ...[text shortened]... rnographic? Should children be banned from museums displaying Classical or Renaissance masterworks?
I'm not surprised, just disappointed in the way this woman's claim is being accepted by comments on the interwebz because the media is pushing her narrative.
She THINKS that the complaints from a couple of parents was what got her fired.
She states clearly that she doesn't KNOW why the board required her to quit or be fired.
Deep down I think she does know, and it ain't because of a picture of David was shown to a class of 6th graders.

Seems like it was to do with David’s penis.
@shavixmir saidMy point is we don't know why she was forced to resign.
The teacher was forced to resign.
WTF is wrong with you people?
She "thinks" it might have been the reason, but that's her side of the story.
The school board or whatever can't comment on why, so wait and see, eventually the real reason will come out.
I bet she has a lot more to answer for.
@Soothfast
Yeah, we have to keep the idea that men have penises top secret. If you reveal that dreaded information you can go to jail.....
@sonhouse saidFor %$#& sake stop acting like this is some kind of US policy, it was a couple of weird parents that made the complaint, and the media is blowing it all out of proportion..

I'm sure you have your share of screwballs too.
@jj-adams saidWhy are school forced to tell parents of 11 and 12 year olds there might be nudity in art class, history or biology?

Completely bonkers.
@shavixmir saidAll education should be privatised and parents get to send their kids to whichever school they please, or not to send them any. No1 is fully onboard with this, anything else is the states insidious meddling in the relationship between parent and child.

No1 is on the road to becoming a libertarian, we look forward to further progress.
@AverageJoe1
Hey, it is DeSantis who HATES the idea of democracy without HIM as king.
He is trying desperately to jump on the Trumpism bandwagon and it is the first move of fascists to attack media, attack artists, attack freedom to read what you want, BAN those books like the life of Rosa Parks, who could STAND to read such filth?
@Wajoma
Right, make ALL schools private, meaning the parents PAY for whatever school they send their kids too. All well and good for rich WHITE folks so poor folks cannot be educated.
That is EXACTLY what happened in slavery America a few hundred years ago, even going further by making it illegal for blacks to get an education, get flogged for DARING to learn how to read.......
