@Phranny saidIYes, fewer interruptions at home. No dogs, no TV series, no personal activities which will trump business activities, procrastination, the list goes on. I think I will go walk around the park, maybe catch a snooze before poppoing a 4:00 beer. Oh, and a bubble bath. Got plenty of time, after all.
My daughter has worked remotely for a large corporation since before Covid. She loves it. She gets far more work done due to fewer interruptions.
And surely this 'employee' will drive his car maybe even more on a daily basis than he would have if it were parked in the office parking lot.
You libs just do not want to wark, it is that simple. Next you will say we should have single payer insurance.
@AverageJoe1 saidStop making stuff up, k?
Suzianne says the article is wrong. The paid employees, and the paid janitors and maintenance security people , used to all come to work.
Today, 1%^ of the employees come in, and the maintenance and security people make up the other 5%. Maybe we read diff articles
@wildgrass saidIf the government employees are not doing their jobs, they can be fired.
If you're using realistic productivity metrics in employee evaluations, then for many jobs it doesn't matter if they're working from home. Ive heard many examples of people moving to work from home and having a lot more free time, but it's not because their productivity went down. It's because they did their job efficiently.
If the government employees are not doing their jobs, they can be fired.

@AverageJoe1 you describe your own lack of responsibility and believe everyone is as slimy as you are. Fortunately that is not true. It is easy to judge productivity without hovering over someone. You are truly despicable. My daughter was recruited by a headhunter for her position. It was the best of three offers. She has received promotions, raises and bonuses. She works for a large successful publicly owned corporation and enjoys her job. Her company saves an enormous amount of money by limiting the use of building/buying/renting equipping and maintaining office space. When a remote worker is sick, they are often still able to work as they do not have to drive or infect others around them. Remote work is not for everyone. People like you enjoy wasting time around the water cooler, wasting time visiting other workers in their cubicles where they can spend their paid time gossiping.
@DJJ saidYou just state the obvious. That's not what this thread is about and doesn't contradict anything I wrote.
