Looks like all you RHPers will be able to hate and disparage the United States well into your geezerhood: An unprecedented era of great-power aging makes it likely the 21st century will, again, be American, according to Mark L. Haas, an assistant professor in the department of political science at Duquesne University.

China would be much worse than the US if it was the most powerful country. A lot of the worst of the US comes from the fact that it's the most powerful country, which tends to lead to arrogance. Also, there's the manipulations of the military-industrial complex.

Only as long as soylent green does not become a reality.

I mean if a little over 20% of the populations of the worlds most powerful nations get to be over 65 and the demographic pyramid is such that there are simply not enough people under that age to provide the tax base to support these people (given that all the super funds would have been bust by then) and given that the worlds population is slated to grow to 9billion by 2050, all that might mean is that a super geriatric state will form over a global consensus of elderly people bandying themselves together to protect themselves from the cloying/clawing intentions of their progeny.

Given that the pope also tends to be well in that age bracket, you could easily see how one world government run by the papacy will become a reality, for no other reason that all these older people the world over, who are desperate for law and order and a peaceful environment to enjoy their kids inheritance, will probably want one of their age group who is an arch conservative and who is practiced in the art of maintaining the wealth of the church, so much so that he will become the perfect poster boy for elderly security.

I can even see the ads.

A New World Order for those who love some of that old time religion.
Vote [1] The Pope.

You heard it first on RHP.

Adjiedj Bakas, a right-wing Dutch bastard (as if there weren't enough over here as it is), wrote a book called Mega-trends.

Basing his information on umpteen sources (too many to be bothered mentioning), he came to various conclusions:

1. Western Europe will in the next 30 years become Islamo-Europe
2. Eastern Europe will become the centre of "modern Europe".
3. Brasil, India, China and Russia will share the US's Super-power status (interestingly Brasil because of its resources).
4. The US's power will diminish, largely due to ineffective use of resources and economical woes.

Obviously I've started drinking as much beer as possible just in case we do stumble into sharia law...

Once the northern hemisphere is totally overrun, downunder will no doubt become the pre-eminent first world destination and Australia as it morphs into the land of OZ
"somewhere over the global warming smog haze" (i know it doesnt quite have that rainbow pizazz) and we'll be welcoming you all to the "Land Up Over"

Funny, we started out as a penal colony and in the end the biggest mass ixodus (opposite of exodus I guess, as in coming towards us) would be all the xenophobic carbon crims will be beating a path to our door.

Ps:- leave your guns and your cultural hang ups at home, but bring your love for all things sport and beer(of course)

Is arrogance worse than actual abuse? I'm not sure what you mean by "manipulations of the military-industrial complex." Do you mean, as in creating a climate of hysteria to sell weapons to client states?

Muslims taking over Western Europe and shutting down breweries (particularly in Germany) is ample reason to start WWIII.

Not to worry -- according to the article, today's radical Islamic terrorist will be tomorrow's middle-aged worker with a job, wife, kids, mortgage, etc. In fact, that was probably the most encouraging thing about the whole article: middle-aged people tend to have a lot less zeal or desire to blow things up.

Congress, weapon making industry and special interest groups make up an "Iron Triangle" I'm told, in which none of the three has to do anything for an outsider in order to get funding or some such thing.

But I'm guessing you already knew that and are simply dismissing the comment because it's not convenient for you to take it seriously.

Who cares? Obama will begin the trend of the US trying to emulate Europeans and their views of a future based on cooperation and market regulation, triumphing over militarism and very little market regulation (well, in their rhetoric, at least).

Much like the Romans tried to emulated Greek culture when they recognized its superiority.

😏

After they annexed Greece (146 BC). Later, the Romans decided they liked Jewish culture better and became Christians.

I didn't say otherwise.

You know I'm right.
