I'm not worried. Even if there were no new discoveries and all the oil the United States is sitting on but the Democrats won't let us drill for went unrealized, the market will still sort this out:

The funny thing about peak oil is that it was coined by a Shell employee back in the late 50's and straight away their stocks started gaining value.

Now, it may be true or it may be rubbish... but there's certainly the foul stench of mixed interests clinging to it.

Or invest in alternative energy, or get a motorcycle instead of your SUV, or move closer to work, or start walking and cycling around...

You know Brazil's doing good stuff with ethanol fuel, though I hear there's controversy over working conditions over there.

Perhaps you are right. You know I don't depend on politicians for doing anything else for me or anybody else, so why do I depend on them to do the right thing in regads to our energy needs?

It's every man for himself!!!

What could politicians do that would be "the right thing"?

well,if we can't perfect fusion power or invent a cheap synthetic oil or something,I say do what was done in history a few thosand years ago....conquer!And conquer the entire middle east and "own"their oil!
Some of those towel heads individually earn over a million dollars a day, every day i read(and believe).Time to spread the wealth out alittle...with the USA and its allies!Once we have their oil, they will crumble like a steamroller going over a thin cracker!
