Why not cut the cackle: sack the lot and re-employ only those prepared to work an 8-hour day for which they are paid?

There could not be a simpler, less demanding, job than being required to read an address, cycle there, and push some paper through the letter-box. Money for 'old rope'.

Having worked for Royal Mail its a lot harder than you make it out to be... until you have worked for them you will never know how much harder it is!

Do what the US did in 1946 (I think it was Truman) when the railworkers striked. He threatened to draft them all into the army. Even before his speech was done he got a telegraph from the union agreeing to end the strike.

I doubt you could pass the civil service exam, much less push those pieces of paper into the right slots.

Speaking of strikes, all virtually all public transport in Paris is coming to a halt on Thursday. Later in the year we're likely to have most universities going on strike too with Sarkozies plans for radical changes in them. Right now, I don't mind the idea of them striking, it's only going to put me out by a day, but then, I'll get back to you all on Friday!

YEAH! LETS DO THAT! LETS DESTROY 150 YEARS OF TRADE UNION RIGHTS BECAUSE YOU MISTAKENLY BELIEVE SOMEONE ELSES JOB IS EASY!!!! WOOO!!!!

is there a sarcasm font on this thing?

PS:- half the reason the postal workers are on strike is because of bad pay - they only, on the whole, earn about 14k a year. The post office can't pay them any more because they allegedly don't have the money. They however, do have £500 million which they plan putting into a digital tv service. Which is, of course, the right and proper job of the royal mail, and not in any way blue sky thinking from vastly over paid and under employed bored executives who wish they were in a sexier job than being in charge of the royal mail.

I'd love to have a President make a threat like that to try to control me. He'd get impeached so fast...
