If the military situation deteriorates significantly as far as Russia is concerned, I would not be shocked to see them you use tactical nuclear weapons (an eventuality that Noam Chomsky warned of in an article I linked to months ago). Would the West than risk an all out exchange by retaliating in kind? Russian leadership may well doubt it; after all, NATO and the rest have avoided outright intervention to this point.

Russia, well Putin, anyway, already SAYS NATO is directly interfering with the war.
The shyte will hit the fan if Putin does use nukes against Ukrainians just defending their sovereign country from barbarian who wants the USSR back.
The way we are ruining the planet with our response to climate change, we don't deserve to live on this paradise of a planet, it HAS to be a jewel of the galaxy, it doesn't look like there are many like it in the whole galaxy. We have seen some possible Earth like worlds but they so far are around white dwarf's which can spring a nasty radiation surprise on any of those close orbiting planets, what dwarf's are notorious for their blasts of radiation flying off the star.
I would be a fool to say there are no other Earth's in our galaxy but if there are, there is no way to get there, say if they are 15,000 light years away or maybe in the Magellenic cloud, which is a galaxy torn apart by interactions with our own Milky way.
Which of course has nothing to do with our present nuclear crisis.
