Out of the goodness of their hearts.
Yeah, sure, if you believe that, they also have a bridge to sell you.
Not 'free', as Trump has said, mind you, but costing the American taxpayer millions to retrofit to the specific demands of a jet carrying the president and representing the American people. A jet that, according to Trump, is not for him, but for all of us. But only Trump gets to fly in it, of course, no following president will, and for all practical purposes, it will be 'his jet', since he himself has said it will go to his library foundation "no later than Jan.1, 2029."
This is a clear violation of the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the US Constitution (Article I, Section 9, Clause 8) which states that: "No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State."
According to Wikipedia: "In January 2024, Democratic members of the US House Committee on Oversight and Accountability released their White House for Sale: How Princes, Prime Ministers, and Premiers Paid Off President Trump report detailing over $7.8 million in payments from foreign governments to Trump-owned businesses. After Republicans took control of the House in the 2022 midterm elections, the committee stopped requesting financial records from Trump's accounting firm, Mazars, leading the report to assume that additional payments had occurred.
"The Trump administration wants to accept a gifted Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet from the royal family of Qatar and use it as the new Air Force One. With an estimated value of US$400 million, this would be the most valuable gift ever extended to the United States from a foreign government. Although the gift will be transferred at first to the Department of Defense and subsequently to the Trump presidential library foundation, it could be still in violation of the Emoluments Clause."
There is also the question of National Security. As outlined in the following video, from 2:45, Qatar is not only considered an ally of the US, but also an ally of Iran, China and Hamas. Listening devices and tracking devices are now made smaller than ever, and they could be hidden literally anywhere on a plane this large.
But, as we know, illegal acts have never stopped this president before.
@Suzianne saidyour post is a lie...Trump wasnt given anything.

when you follow a dishonest media it makes you dishonest too.
do you want to straighten this up and declare Qatar donated an airplane to US DOD?
@Mott-The-Hoople saidNope.

The plane must go to the Air Force to install the millions of dollars of equipment (paid for by taxpayers) needed on any AF-1, as the article says. That doesn't mean it belongs to the DoD. If Trump wasn't set on making this plane into another AF-1, this would plainly be a gift. As it stands, it is still a gift, for the use of Donald Trump only. Clearly. I can't help it if you and all the other ass-kissers on the right defend this egregious example of trying to hand-wave away the Constitution's Foreign Emoluments Clause.
Do you also plan on taking it apart, nut by bolt, to make sure that Trump isn't broadcasting his plans to terrorist organizations?
