Let me know of any good documentaries, preferably about a topic that could be discussed in Debates.
Thanks in advance.
If you haven’t seen it a really good up close view of the maidan revolt in Ukraine from the protestors perspective
On Netflix they’ve got a couple of really good WW2 documentaries.
One’s WW2 in colour. Very good. Lots of original material (not sure if it was originally shot in colour, though).
And the Einsatzgruppen documentary is very good. Very harsh. The furthest from a comfortable watch you’ll ever experience. Powerful stuff.

An older series from the 70's gives detailed accounts of previously classified information of the battles that shaped much of Russia today.

@sonhouse saidThe Einsatzgruppen were SS units which followed in the wake of the German “Heer” (regular wehrmacht) forces during operation Barbarossa.
@shavixmir
What is the gist of that last one? Einsat something?
Basically they were designed to combat insurgents whilst the regular forces blitzkrieged themselves towards Moscow and Stalingrad.
But, what they were actually doing was rounding up Jews, Romani and communists and murdering them.
It got so nasty they started employing nazi-sympathisers from local communities to help along, because the SS soldiers were getting too stressed out by the deeds they were doing.
And a lot of this was filmed.
It’s what led to the final solution being implemented.
It truly is a harrowing documentary on the complete lack of humanity.
@sonhouse saidHere, this might clear that up for you.

If you like recently discovered famous shipwrecks, get ready for Tuesday Night on the History Channel. It brings you the recent discovery of the Endurance, the ship of Captain Shackleford, the crew of which survived a hell of a frozen ordeal in the Arctic, around 1900.
Acquaint yourself with the story beforehand to get the full effect. Especially you, Vilify. It is all out there, just like that pesky laptop!! 😉 😉

@vivify saidIf you like short documentaries (primarily on WW2, sometimes WW1) this is an excellent youtube channel:

This video is about the violent history of Kyiv (Kiev). Seemingly it took the nazis 4 weeks to conquer it.
And it mentions and links to babi yar massacre, which was conducted by the Einsatzgruppen I mentioned earlier.
