'Reinventing' Mahjong for White Americans

Debates

Words of Wisdom for the resident hornets nest:

Some advocates claim that works of William Shakespeare should be pulled from
school curriculums because people of color do not identify with Shakespeare's
culture and cannot understand his works.

I wonder if the PC left knows how to say, "HYPOCRITE"

You know very strange people.

@Duchess64 - In my experience, white people are the ONLY people who have insisted that non-white people are incapable of understanding Shakespeare.

Ya, politically correct white liberal activists. BINGO!! You're finally getting it!

Get that gal a CEE-gar.

Of course it is a racist perspective. Every political point to be made in this generation is predicated on racism and sexism, and now, transism.

Up until WOKE times, Shakespeare was regarded as the best English speaking writer of all time. And just the fact that people drag Shakespeare's skin color into the equation shows their extreme negative racism.

Do you think that Chinese educators should remove the works of Lin Yutang from their school curriculum because White students cannot understand his nuances?

It's quackery, and the quacks are having a field day in the US of A.

You misunderstand me duchess, I don’t know if it’s intentional mischief or just an inability to communicate.
A) if I say something is interesting then it’s because I actually find it interesting. It is interesting that chess, probably because of its wide distribution over many cultures for a long time, has ceased to be tied to any culture in terms of its design. Whereas Mahjong is apparently very culturally sensitive for some people in terms if it’s design.
B) you clearly think that by bombarding a post with the opinions of people that I have no knowledge of, or respect for, you can win the debate instead of putting forward an intellectual argument for your ethnocentric stance
It’s a game duchess if some idiots have got upset about the design on a tile with everything that’s going in right now and some other weak idiots have admitted guilt because they transgressed some eternal and universal law of Mahjong tile design then so be it.
I play mahjong about 4 or 5 times a week I like the traditional designs without having a clue about their meanings or cultural importance, I just think they are pretty. I wouldn’t go looking for alternative tile designs but I refuse to take their existence as a matter of any significance.
Get a grip.

I always love to hear about people you know who conveniently validate the position you have stated.
