Just wanted to clarify. How about my other question? Could you be bigoted by your own definition?
By the definition:

"a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices"

I think everybody, including myself, tends to be a bit obstinately devoted to their own opinions. The question is what degree and how much we temper it so I think that's a fairly useless definition.

The more critical part is how prejudiced or intolerant you are in how you act on those views.

Ok, I'll buy that, so do you think that sometime accusations of bigotry are tossed about without much thought, or too frivolously?

Sometimes, sure.

Responsible is in the eye of the beholder.
True.

I was responding to whodey's question. Sex is discussed in the boy scouts because they have a Family Life merit badge program that recognizes sex as an issue in family life.

As a Christian based organization, they would give advice based on a Christian perspective.

Again, why should sex be discussed at all in boy scouts?
Maybe it should, maybe it should not.
I am not discussing that.

But you said:

...That means that gays should be able to join so long as they deny being gay. ...

You suggested they deny being gay.
Doesn't that mean it has to be discussed?

And isn't that teaching children to lie?
And teaching them to be ashamed?

There is nothing wrong with being ashamed of acting in an immoral manner. As a matter of fact, one should be ashamed for such actions.

Excluding atheists, agnostics, and homosexuals in no way implies that Scouting is bigoted. 'Bigot' means showing hatred or intolerance.
And you would not agree that prohibiting inclusion is intolerant?

How does sexual orientation impact on anything the Scouts do?

If the aims of the Scouting asssociation was to facilitate arranged marriages
with girl Guides then I can see a reason to exclude gays .... but I don't think
that is the reason ........

If you think something immoral - dont do it.

But dont impose your morals on others.

On the basis of Christianity. I think the Boy Scouts claim to base its morality on Christian beliefs. If they don't, then they base their rejection of homosexuality on something different.

If you say that homsexuality is immoral, then you are forcing your morality. If you say it is not immoral, then you are not. I see your position.

They teach Christian morality? That's part of what they do?

I'm not sure all Christians would agree with that morality, nevertheless
is there a reason why they cannot teach Christian morality to gays?
