You cannot be a traitor to your own party, it’s called being a left or right wing of any given party.
The MAGAs only constitute between 30 to 40% of the Republican Party so disagreeing with them is not the same as being a traitor.

This begs the question……. if I am a legislator or member of the senate, representing a certain block of citizens who are 90% in agreement on an issue,, but I believe in my heart that they are not correct and vote the other way, is that a proper way to represent my constituents.?

This is probably dependent on why this person was voted into office. I have always had the opinion that I will vote for the candidate who best articulates issues and proposes reasonable solutions. I don't care what party they are affiliated with.

Personally, I think it's pretty dumb to vote for someone just because of the R or D next to their name. That tells you how many loaded unsecured firearms they have in their house, but other than that it tells you nothing about how they will govern.

So, if Manchin was elected by centrist Democrats who want compromise and bipartisanship, then he's doing his job just fine.

If voting made a difference it would be illegal. Elections are just there to give the appearance of democracy. Take you for example. You accept voting makes a difference and your country does not rig elections. In other words, you have faith in your elections. You believe. Kind of like believing in god. You don't need evidence of god's existence. You have faith.

Elections are verifiable and in most western countries they return the ones garnering the most votes to power.
