@Suzianne saidWell, yes Coal Race a simple way to say the race to burn coal….between us and China. ….suggesting that by winning the race, that being China winning, means that China will have burned more cold than we have.
"Coal race"?
Why don't we have a steam locomotive race, too?
Can you even hear yourself?
It would follow that if they burn more coal than we do, they will have more production than we will with industries that use coal. Therefore, they would be more successful than we.
@AverageJoe1 saidIt's unreasonable to expect 100% agreement from humans. Look at the flat earthers...😆
there are a lot of scientists that say that our driving cars around and doing everything you say is but just a drop of a bucket in a lake.
Climate change by itself is not the issue. Natural climate change has happened and will happen again. The concern is MAN-MADE (anthropogenic) climate change. That is harder to prove. I had to study the data a long time before I became convinced. But the usual threshold of 95% (akin to a p-value of 0.05) has been reached ~ 97% of scientists believe the climate is changing due to human activity.
The usual objection among scientists over anthropogenic climate change is the man-made part. Not 'oh, that's impossible' but 'Are we SURE?' And more and more scientists are becoming sure. It will never reach 100% but we are above the threshold where it is time to act.
A recent convert (2011) is Richard Muller, who launched his own partly Koch-funded study.
https://www.aaas.org/taxonomy/term/4/richard-muller-now-convinced-world-warming
A small group of scientific critics contend that global warming studies have been flawed in many ways, and it is premature to form a solid conclusion. Two years ago, one such critic, geophysicist Richard Muller, professor of physics at the University of California at Berkeley, decided he would find out for himself, organizing and leading the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature (BEST) study, partly funded by the Charles Koch Foundation, whose founder is a major funder of climate skeptics.
His objective: Gather and analyze worldwide historical land temperature measurements going back more than 200 years. He released his results earlier this month, concluding, the land is 1.6°F (1°C) warmer than in the 1950s. His numbers match with those of both NOAA and NASA, numbers cited by the majority of climate scientists. With the data now collected and analyzed, he is now convinced that the planet is warming.

@spruce112358 saidA good article and you are correct, that it is more likely that we are contributing to climate change. So maybe the big discussion would be, how much do we back off from production and driving cars and building fires and cultivating cattle which give off the gases. So let us all concentrate on how to tackle it from that angle, to reduce emissions. But then you get into other countries like China and India, who don’t give a damn, and will surpass us in these productive activities.

Liberals will wring their hands, thinking we don’t want to hurt anybody, and such as that, as they kick our ass.
Let’s put Sunhouse on this, and he can write the chinamen to death. 🧑💻
@AverageJoe1 saidPolluting is not going to be the way going forward. There are too many people on earth to do that. CO2 in China affects everyone. 😆

Watched an episode of 'Modern Wisdom' with Konstantin Kisin who blamed the problems in Great Britain partly on Net Zero. Saying the solution was more coal-burning, fume-belching factories in Newcastle to deal with 'angry, misanthropic, unemployed young men.'
But re-hashing the past is just lazy. Conditions change and solutions from previous eras fail because of it.
Norway is the better model - forward thinking and moving entirely to EVs and green energy. 😆
@sonhouse said"8 children dying" - upsets you, I can understand. But tell me, how upset are you
So one republican I know of wants to do a 50% tariff thing. Arrest 10 million people and put them in concentration camps.
Last time that happened with 5000 children in cages, 8 of those children died.
None of that crap happened under ANY democrat.
when children are raped and killed by illegal aliens??
"But that's different, Earl"
@spruce112358 saidNorway is happy to coast. Zzzzzzz. . Our country on the other hand wants to be the greatest in the world, and so you will not see us just poking along like Norway does. I hate it for you liberals, who want to just smell roses and have beers at the pub, but we like to kick ass and become great. It is called making America great.

How can people be so different? What if If you and I were friends in the USA, and I said I have to take off right now. I have a deal where I might sell one of my warehouses for $2 million, you would naturally think as a liberal well wait a minute average Joe is going to come home with $1 million and I won’t have $1 million. That sort of thing. It is very queer to me.
@AverageJoe1 saidChina and India are very interested in free solar energy which happens to be green. 😆

They have as much to lose from climate change as anyone - maybe more, so I think the discussions can be had.
@AverageJoe1 saidI was responding to the post immediately preceding my own, as should have been obvious from the repeated five-word phrase.
To whom are you responding, Kewpie, about a distinction? That is, what are they saying? We know what Sonhouse is always saying, hopefully it is someone else that we can discuss.
There's no point having a conversation with you because you can't see anything outside your one-person world view. Please ignore me in the future as we will never speak the same language.

@AverageJoe1 saidThe entire concept is idiotic.

Coal was surpassed in this country for a reason.
It is wildly inefficient.

Funny, Trump thinks so too, so naturally all you morons think that.

But you knew that and just like below average 1, you cannot just discuss the issue directly. Same old same old.
