Top GOP lawmaker won't condemn calling events of Jan. 6 'legitimate political discourse'
Those were the words used in a GOP censure resolution of Cheney and Kinzinger.
Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, refused to condemn a censure resolution targeting two Republican colleagues, Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, which included a statement suggesting that the events of Jan. 6 were "legitimate political discourse."
The RNC issued the formal censure for the lawmakers' roles on the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

@vivify saidyou havent got past pelosi refusing the additional resources Trump requested for this protest, or, capitol police INVITING protestors in the building, or, a capitol police officer shooting and killing an unarmed woman.
Not only were riots by a mob that destroyed and looted federal buildings (and injured over 100 police officers) "legitimate political discourse", but even investigating those riots warrants censure from your own party.
Got it.
Lets get to the bottom of this and maybe we can figure out exactly what happened.
All we have now is people being indefinitely locked up for at most trespassing. This is dictatorship third world territory.

@mott-the-hoople saidSure packed a lot of lies in one post, didn't you?

@no1marauder saidyou are welcome to dispute any thing I posted. But being the 💩 weasel you are you just throw out a blanket statement.

@mott-the-hoople saidWe've already covered all these subjects.

Pelosi had no power to divert police resources.
The rioters attacked and injured about 140 police officers to gain access to the building; they were certainly not "invited in".
The charges against those still being held are far more than "trespassing".
EDIT: Here's a 5 minute video: https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2021/07/27/insurrection-hearing-new-riot-footage-vpx.cnn/video/playlists/congress-affirms-president-elect-biden-win/
I rarely feel the need to break windows and climb through them when I'm "invited in"; how about you?
@vivify saidI mean, you can watch the videos. It wasn't discourse and it shouldn't be considered legitimate by any major US political party, especially a party who touts "law and order" on their platform. The weirdest part about Republicans calling this "legitimate political discourse" is all their prior statements about it.

Mitch McConnell - "There is no question that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of that day. The people who stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their President."
Matt Gaetz - “some of the people who breached the Capitol today were not Trump supporters. They were masquerading as Trump supporters and in fact, were members of the violent terrorist group antifa.”
Candace Owens - "My hope is that all violent agitators are arrested.."
Is there a legitimate way to breach the Capitol, storm a building, and violently agitate? If we wanted to get to the bottom of what happened, a bipartisan commission would work.
(oh wait, Republicans don't want anyone to know why that mob attacked the capitol building.)

What is wrong with y'all?
Can you not condemn this Jan/6 melee for what it was?
You are quick to call yourselves patriots.
How are you able to defend or excuse this sedition?

@mott-the-hoople saidWhy were they there in the first place ? Let's start there and work forward.

(maybe I just need a refresher)
@wildgrass saidyes, there are TWO investigations. The one the media reports on most is the one pelosi runs, she banned republicans from participating, only two rinos were allowed.
Is there anything any Republicans (other than Cheney and Kinzinger) have done to try to get to the bottom of what happened?
She is still withholding video footage...btw...pelosi stopped the investigation of chinas virus also
@mott-the-hoople saidWhy are those two Republicans "RINOs"? Because they condemned the Jan 6th riots?
yes, there are TWO investigations. The one the media reports on most is the one pelosi runs, she banned republicans from participating, only two rinos were allowed.

@mott-the-hoople saidNo, she didn't. She rejected Jordan and Banks because they obviously had no intention of doing anything but obstructing the committee's work, but accepted the other Republicans McCarthy had nominated. https://www.npr.org/2021/07/21/1018850848/pelosi-rejects-2-gop-nominees-for-the-jan-6-panel-citing-integrity-of-the-probe

Lynne Cheney is a "RINO" only to members of Trump's cult of personality; her voting record is solid right wing.
