Romney just promised an across the board 20% tax cut, abolishing the AMT and repealing the estate tax.
I think I'm gonna be sick.
😞
I'm voting for Mickey Mouse in the primary when it comes to New York.
:'(
Mitt, please tell me you're just BS-ing to suck up to the right wing nuts and that you really don't believe that what we need right now is another big tax cut for the rich.
Please, Mitt. Please.
Pretty please.

Tack back to center? It would take him at least a year to get back to the center with a speed boat.

Moreover, I do not think Republicans in their actions in contemporary times nor in the near future are fiscally responsible, and instead they will continue to promote tax cuts for the wealthy and push unfunded wars (i.e., Iran, etc.). It would be out of place to suggest fiscal responsibility as a characteristic of the Republican party. I think the $4 trillion reduction plan agreed to by the President and Boehner was a good start but was shot down by right-wingers and tea partiers who control the Republican party.
Lastly, while candidates drift toward their party extreme during the primaries, Romney has went so far extreme unlike what has been seen before by a viable general-election candidate during the primaries, that it will be very difficult for Romney to credibly move back toward the center in the general election.

What you suggest might work with some of the electorate, and there will actually be relief among some when Romney does flip-flop back to the center.
Yet, Romney's biggest weakness is the perception that he has no firm principles, and in some cases it may be better for him in electability to stick to his guns in the general election with regard to certain positions he recently took during the primaries.
The independent and swing voters who decide the general election may be not be as manipulated by such a campaign strategy you suggest. But, again, I am sure you or his campaign strategists could come up something.

(He's almost sealed the deal with Sheldon Adelson!)
Does you wife drive 2 Cadillacs and not 'feel' rich? You are obviously NOT Mitt Romney material. Why are you so jealous of Mitt Romney that you have to come here and start "class warfare?" You are pathetic. Don't make me go "Galt" on you!

I think Romney will be at least a middle level strength candidate. As you said (albeit perhaps a little facetiously), he will move towards the center in the general.
McCain was probably no stronger a candidate than Romney and had the deck completely stacked against him with the market crash in September of 2008 and following an unpopular Bush presidency and was up against a tidal wave of Obama popularity, and lost by 7 points.
Incumbency doesn't really help much in weak economy (even if it is improving slightly).
I would say that the best case realistic scenario for Obama is a repeat of his 2008 performance (a 7 point win, give or take). A double digit win would require a complete implosion by Romney or an incredible economic boom in the next several months (6% growth and 6% unemployment, perhaps).
I don't see any possibility at all of a 60-40 type election and would gladly give anyone 100 to 1 odds against it.
