What punishment should Saddam suffer as a result of his trial?
If not guilty, he should move to Paris.
If guilty, he should have to watch american tv sixteen hours a day and eat frozen tv dinners twice a day.
That is good enough revenge for any crime.
Originally posted by ianpickeringI would suggest life in prison. This is based on my personal oppinion on what the maximal punishment applicable by a civilized state should be.

But its basically up to the Iraqis, if death penalty is an option that is going to be used in the Iraqi justice system then Sadam would be a better candidate than most.
Originally posted by ianpickeringWith a team of 20 lawyers from all over Europe at his defence + I have heard that alot of evidence will have been lost in the riots after his capture........ will he be found guilty at all? The man should be judged on only what can be proven not heresay........... this of course does not mean that the result may be fair.

If guilty, I believe the death penalty should not be used its more of a release from punishment than punishment itself.
Agree with SVW - punishment by TV, any aussie soap should do the trick.

Life imprisonment.

Which do you think holds sway?

We can't even counter Moore without fear of being branded as hicks.
So... it is really good to be a "hayseed peasant chimp". We are below the argument and can just see 'right and wrong'. Hayseeds have no shame. We are not smart enough.

Killing him will make him a martyr to many Arabs - especialy if his trial allows him to expose the people and countries which arrmed and supported him when he was doing some of his most evil deeds.
In prison, he will be always be seen as being able to come back to power again -if the insurgents win.
Tough choice.
