From the BBC:
The news comes as latest figures show the number of under-18s who became pregnant in England and Wales rose from 41,868 in 2002 to 42,173 in 2003.

Why on earth aren't these teenagers receiving sex education? Seemingly they're riddled with various sexually transmitted diseases as well.
Besides the fact that this is obviously rather skanky, it's quite "not on" as well.
Do you think teenagers should have sex education?
Originally posted by shavixmirYes of course. I would rather they were educated about these things.

And from the NIH (National Institute of Health) a recent exhaustive study of teens who participated in abstinence programs such as "True Love Waits" where teenagers sign pledges to remain virgins until marriage found that while they tended to wait an average of 18 months longer before their first sexual experience, it also found that once they began being active (before marriage) they engaged in more anal sex and had higher rates of venereal disease and lower rates of condom use.
I'm still wondering if it hurts Christians as well.

Can you back this up?
I can understand where it's coming from, I would like proof though.
Originally posted by shavixmirwell British teenagers receive thousands of hours of 'education' in maths without becoming even basically numerate; in English, without becoming even moderately literate; and in foreign languages, without remotely approaching the level of four year old native speakers ... in education quality, not quantity counts ... but in Britain if it it turns out that pupils don't know enough to pass an exam then the pass mark is lowered to maintain an ever increasing level of 'educational achievement'

1. They should use a condom.
2. They should use water based lubricants.
3. They have to stretch the anus before penetration to stop irritation and damage
4. etc.
I wonder if these people are told HOW to do it anally?
I'm personally a supporter of very open education on sex, drugs and society.

Statistics taken out of context are not of any real value. What I would like to know, is how the NUMBER of teenagers has changed in the years given.
Should for example the number have doubled, then the number of teenage pregnancies is significantly lower than before, on a ratio basis.
Additionally, has the distribution of male / female changed?
Not that I am arguing against better education (sexual or otherwise), but rather I am arguing against the posting of statistical figures without posting all the facts.
Originally posted by AlcraI think it's safe to assume that regarding teen pregnancies, the distribution male/female has been pretty stable the last couple of years. 😉

I am being humorous here. Or trying to be. What one "instinct" does every living thing have in common since "ferns" were supplanted by "flowers" some 610 million years ago?
Sex is the answer.
We don't need "sex" education. We need brainwashing to avoid it in a world too stupid to get off of earth and go where all the energy and materials are located. All we are going to do is promote dictatorships and tyranny by continuing to breed. It ain't too bad now. There is plenty of "stuff" for everyone. But in fifty years when there are twice as many of us -- and we run out of energy? That will be "interesting times" indeed. 'Interesting Times' being defined as war.

And where, exactly, does the young teenage girl with gonorrhoea fit into this tale?
