CELEBRITY or martyr? Schapelle Corby will become one or the other after her Bali drugs trial ordeal.
The 27-year-old Gold Coast beauty student has joined Lindy Chamberlain and Pauline Hanson on the podium of famous Australian women who've been behind bars.
Ms Corby was caught with 4.1 kg of marijuana in her unlocked bodyboard bag at Denpasar airport in Bali last October.
If convicted, she could face death by firing squad.
But she insists she's innocent and says the drugs were planted, probably by a baggage handler involved in an Australian drug ring.
Her case has generated massive media attention and national debate.

If convicted, she could face death by firing squad.
.
But then... I have a weird sense of what is punishment and what isn't.
😠🙄😲

who is she and why do we care.. happens every day.. kill her @$$!
In general - if you are caught smuggling drugs in a foreign country, your government will not protect you. By going overseas, you are subject to local law - unless you are a diplomat of course.
It is not likely she will be executed. But it looks as if she will have to get used to nasi goreng for a while.

Nine Australians have been arrested in Bali on suspicion of attempting to smuggle more than eight kilos of drugs out of Indonesia.
Our reporter, Kathryn Roberts, says eight men and one woman, aged between 18 and 29, have been arrested.
The arrests follow a 10-week investigation, with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) providing assistance to Indonesian authorities.
The AFP has been investigating a syndicate allegedly involved in the importation of narcotics from Indonesia to Australia using couriers.
Four men and one woman, all from Brisbane and Sydney, were taken into custody at Denpasar airport in Bali, where they were attempting to return to Sydney.
Indonesian customs officers allegedly found eight kilograms, of what is believed to be heroin, strapped to four of the five Australians.
