Not only is the British government hell bent on TOSsing out my rights as a human being, by trying their best to impliment a 90 day: Hold for all plan.
But it seems that a majority of Brits agree with this??!!??

What the hell is going on? And I've to fear bird flus and pandemics and I've to be scared of terrorists, communists, blacks, jews, christian fundementalists and idiots in the US government...
but now I've also got to do what I'm told at the risk of being locked up for 3 months without being accused of anything??
The world has gone to pot.
But I have a remedy. And ironically enough, it's called...
pot.
Yes. If everyone would just get stoned, then everyone would sit back, chill and realise that we're all one collective cons....
Oh forget it.
Let's have a nuke-fest and get it over and done with.
The majority of Brits do not agree with this. I'll warrant the government has based its claim on a small selected sample of the correct demographic to provide them with a reasonable result in their favour. If this were to go to a referendum I believe it would be a very different result. Out of the 200 or so people I have regular contact with, I have yet to meet 1 that agrees with the government over this issue.

Isn't it true, though, that the current 14 day limit on holding without charge is quite low when compared to other countries?
I seem to remember reading that France, for example, has a limit of 3 years.
Originally posted by StarrmanIt doesn't have anyhting to do with whether we should install that policy, except it does help us decide whether 90 days is excessive when compared to what other countries do.

EDIT: But as to whether we should be scared of being locked up, I seriously doubt it. I remember protesting against the criminal justice bill as it gave the police the right to stop people from travelling in convoys of more that 3 cars (or something), plus lots of other stuff we got worked up about which never happened.
Originally posted by StarrmanI've yet to meet one person who votes Tory in real life. But they exist.

The link I supplied is to the vote on the BBC website. I can't seem to look up the results at the moment, but this morning 34% (the highst percentage) preferred 90 days over anything less!
As for other's comments on not misusing these powers...
There are so many examples from the 80's (think of wrongfully held Irish catholics) to now (protesters at the weapons fare, 82 year old men being ejected from conferences, etc.) to make me seriously worry about doing nothing, never mind actually opposing the system.
