@vivify saidMale/Female bathrooms have been around for a long time, but they are for one person at a time with doors that lock..
Are we as a society civilized enough that bathrooms for all genders should exist? Or are we still too immature and primitive?
The arguments against men and women sharing the same public bathrooms are obvious, but are there any legitimate arguments *for* this?
Are you suggesting bathrooms for multiple occupants, meant for many people at a time?
I don't think the ladies would like sharing a public restroom with a bunch of smelly farting belching men that would be standing next to them leering while they look in the mirror.
@vivify saidI went to a university with co-ed dorms and co-ed shower/toilet facilities. No women were raped there--not in the co-ed toilets anyway.

@vivify saidI think there can be co-ed toilets. But there should be separate toilets as well.

@Cliff-Mashburn saidGood post .... Some people are really sick, disgusting and blinded by this rainbow crap.

@moonbus saidOh well that settles it then, if a bunch of students at university didn't have a problem then I'm sure the general public would be OK with no troubles at all.
I went to a university with co-ed dorms and co-ed shower/toilet facilities. No women were raped there--not in the co-ed toilets anyway.
You say rapes in the coed dorms only occured outside the bathrooms? That's reassuring.

people arguing that separate bathrooms are for the safety of women are actually arguing crime can be stopped by keeping men a couple of meters away with an unlocked door and a "women only" sign on it. But the same people will argue that you can't lower gun deaths by enacting way stricter gun laws than that bathroom sign.
"are there any legitimate arguments *for* this?"
equal length queues
republicans might actually have to start running on economic issues (or double down on using immigrants as a scare tool)
@Cliff-Mashburn saidYou really have to wonder sometimes if moonbus losing his marbles.

@vivify saidYou start with ‘civility’,,,,,Is not personal privacy the primary concern? What is wrong with you. See if you can rewrite this post beginning with respect for personal privacy and let’s see how far you get..

Where does it say that civility requireseliminating sex-separated bathrooms.?
Men and women have different biological realities, privacy matters in places where people undress or use the toilet.
Why not have men’s bathrooms, women’s bathrooms, and, where feasible, single-occupancy or family restrooms that anyone can use. That respects everyone’s dignity without asking most people to give up the privacy they reasonably expect.
Better yet, we would all like to know why you would even think of something like this. What is your problem?
Things may have been tight then, and it was necessary for one huge room for everyone to do their business. Things are more, as you say , “ civilized’. in the United States of America. Seems like you want us to be more like Iran, I don’t even think they have toilet paper over there, and certainly not separate bathrooms.
You want us to be like Iran?

An unbelievable post, indeed, what is his problem? How would one of you even THINK of such a topic.
@moonbus saidAnd, the issue is not about rape. That would mean discussing aberrant males and how they would use ANY bathroom,or bedroom, or subway platform. Not about rape, Moonbus

@AverageJoe1 saidYeah he really doesn't see the problem women would have seeing a bunch of men around them in the bathroom.

Oh horrors, a woman might be in the room while a man urinates! It's the end of civilization !!
For most of the last 800,000 yrs of human evolution, everyone peed in the same bushes and latrines. In France, there are pissoirs on the sidewalks. Nobody pays this any mind. Americans are such prudes, I swear.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidDoesn't know much about debate, either. The debate judges are mumbling..('what has rape got to do with this topic,,,,who let this guy on the stage? I'm going thumb down on him. 😕 )
