in the world cup??
I saw an interview with a variety of members of the public asking if they would be supporting England in the world cup as they are our neighbours. Every reply was "I will be supporting the other team England is playing!"
Is this going back to the days of Robert the Bruce and the battles/ heritage etc?
Or are Scots just sour grapes??

It'd be like asking a kiwi if they were going to support Australia in the World Cup. I mean c'mon. They're different countries. Or what about Uruguay supporters following Brazil.
Clearly ridiculous.

The reason we support any team playing the English is because English supporters are arrogant and TV coverage of the English team is so completely dominating it makes one nautious.
And every month since the day I was born I've heard at least one reference to 1966.

Edit:
I say arrogant, but what I mean is: "Full of themselves". Especially when they're winning. Then when their team loses heads have to roll.
hahahahahaha

What is wrong with England team coverage?? im sure if Scotland were in the World Cup there would be coverage on your team?? I was living in Scotland some years ago and a group of us were in the pub in 1998 when England were playing Argentina. A Scottish lad walked in the pub with an Argentinian football top on. I asked him why the fcuk he was wearing it?? he said his granny was Argentinian, lets just say he didnt stay for long !

What happened then? do you mean 1066??

Firstly, all of the home nations that do well in a competition become insufferable bores about it. Look at the Welsh after their Six Nations Grand Slam! They were just as irritating as the English after their world cup win.
Every single Scotsman thinks David Coulthard is a fantastic driver who never really got a fair deal from McClaren (I've even had one quoting chassis numbers at me). In fact, of course, Coulthard is an average driver with a square face. Actually, now I come to think of it, the Irish are less annoying than the rest of us.
Point being, and I KNOW I'm generalizing, we are all arrogant, boring and pathetic when we feel our team has the remotest chance of winning something. I would agree the the English press make it seem a lot worse than it is though.
By the way, the only time I ever hear 1966 mentioned anywhere other than in the media is when someone is complaining about how the English always go on about 1966.
Up the Lions!!!!

And the more I thought about it the more I actually want England to lose.
So much so, that I'll go as far as to say that Maradona's (or God as he is otherwise known as) "Hand of God" goal wasn't actually cheating, but was more just deserves...
My main problem arises when England has to play Holland or the US.
I just flip a coin and see who I despise most.
Yes...my football support is drenched in hatreds...petty and unfair.
And I'm proud of it.
I hope France wins. Just because Napoleon introduced the metric system!
Or Germany. Because they're playing at home.
And both teams will piss the English off to no end...that's a wee bonus.
And no, I'm not really a Scotland supporter either. But a general rule of thumb is that I support the underdog in any match, so that pretty much does make me a Scotland supporter. Cause we suck.
