"Have airline employees replaced high-school deans as the arbiters of appropriate dress, or have skimpily-clad passengers forced flight attendants to act like Mother?
...
"Last week, 23-year-old Kyla Ebbert said a Southwest employee pulled her aside as she was preparing to board a plane departing San Diego for Tucson in July and told her she was dressed too provocatively to fly on the plane.
...
"American Airlines claims the right to refuse to carry passengers for a variety of reasons including being drunk, barefoot, having an offensive odor or being 'clothed in a manner that would cause discomfort or offense to other passengers.'"

I suppose the excuse in this case is that it might cause conflicts on the plane as some passengers might not approve.

In case you want to see the outfit in question.

Just another embarrassing example of America's puritanical heritage.
Laughable and sad.

An obvious ploy to lure male businessmen from other airlines.

There's no debate here.
Who owns the airline?
They set the conditions.
If they wanted to make everyone wear one of those sacks muslim women wear, so be it. You then decide whether you want to support their business by flying with them.
Capitalism always works when it's not fiddled with. If the airline looses customers, they may start issuing bikiini's to female patrons. If patronage increases they may require neck to ankle garments. 😏
Many I have spoken to reason the cause for backlash against the airline is this is seen as pre-emptive action to avoid offending Islamists. I haven't joined that opinion yet, but can see logic in this as a possible motive for this unusual action. 😕
