Another incredibly boring thread from Whodey. "President Obama bad", "Big government", "Republicans great", Democrats are Socialists".

Wake me up when something new and/or different happens.

His comment that the claim that the modest health care reform is a "government takeover" is a lie is accurate. His statement that this lie has been repeated incessantly by the right wing is accurate. His comment that this tactic i.e. the Big Lie is similar to what Goebbels did is accurate.

So if telling the truth is inappropriate, his statements should be condemned.
But this causes you to lose all credibility.

You scorn people on the right who play the Nazi card (and some do -- that's true). And then you defend a guy on the left doing exactly the same thing.

Can you explain your position that when a rightist makes an outlandish comparison that's reprehensible but when a leftist does exactly the same thing it is OK? One might be tempted to conclude that you are not trying to seriously debate the issues but instead just like to shout slogans for your "team."

Henceforth, the State of the Union show will be known as "date night"

Eric Cantor asked Nancy Pelosi out, but Nancy declined, said she had a date with another fellow... some guy from Maryland or something.

Specific examples might help. I see nothing particularly "outlandish" about the comments in question. Right wing statements comparing Obama to Hitler because of health care reform ARE outlandish, however.

Personally I thought that the president made a reasonable effort to strike a tone of willingness to compromise and move forward, while the Republican responses (both of them) were more politically charged and focused on past differences, which was disappointing. (As a side note, I thought Boehner's expression was particularly funny throughout Obama's speech - did anyone else think he looked like he was absolutely miserable sitting there?) I also thought that Obama gave specific policies and suggestions in higher proportion during his speech than did either Republican response - although obviously the Republicans sensibly tailored their speeches to run far shorter.

Thoughts?

Well I might as well start a thread for the state of the union address coming Tuesday the 25th.

So what will be said or should be said?

As for myself, I am kinda upset that Congress can longer sit on partisan sides. Now they must sit TOGETHER!! EEKKS!! This is because after the shootings in Arizona they were all told they needed to be more "civil" to ...[text shortened]... lity of care, and for a lower cost to boot, just one more time without breaking a smile. 😛😵
I see President Obama's recent rise in the poll numbers is really got you down these days...huh? Poor Baby!!😀

"This freeze will require painful cuts."

What an idiot. I didn't listen much after that. Paul Ryan was good though.

Well he is the "messiah", so it would stand to reason that he needs to come back to life and return again. At least, that's how the progressives Bibile reads.

Will we ever see the day when you don't feel the need to resort to such annoying demonization of progressives?
