Steve Bannon to testify:

This from today's NY Times, part quoted:

“When you first received the subpoena to testify and provide documents, I invoked executive privilege,” Mr. Trump wrote in his letter to Mr. Bannon on Saturday. “However, I watched how unfairly you and others have been treated, having to spend vast amounts of money on legal fees and all of the trauma you must be going through for the love of your country and out of respect for the office of the president.”




“Therefore,” he continued, “if you reach an agreement on a time and place for your testimony, I will waive executive privilege for you, which allows for you to go in and testify truthfully and fairly, as per the request of the unselect committee of political thugs and hacks.”

Mr. Bannon’s trial on two counts of criminal contempt of Congress is set for July 18. Each count carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and a $100,000 fine.

Funny how the thought of that happening in about one week kinda changed his mind about testifying.
Executive privilege is bogus in this case anyway because Bannon was out only a year after Trump got in office and all the stuff talked about was in 2020.

Probation and a fine.

That is not the point and you know that full well. The POINT is his testimony if he doesn't just cop out and plea the fifth is to corroborate OTHER folk's testimony but you knew that already. Bannon is not under fire here unless he committed actual criminal acts but that is not what the committee is after.

You really think all this is HEARSAY? The committee is after corroboration of the testimony of others who give second hand evidence like Cassidy freely admitting she heard some dude say XYZ and now she is a pariah and therefore cannot be believed when she says I HEARD TRUMP SAY ABC.
The stacked testimony of witnesses is what convicts people in courts of law and it is not up to zombies to decide what is BS and what is not.
For you zombies it is only BS and witch hunt if it shows criminal behavior by TRUMP.
If it is about HUNTER, well then, BIG difference, ONE person's testimony is PLENTY good enough.
But HEY who should believe me, I am after all just another 80 yo bat crazy person.

More 'silliness' than Trump KNOWING there were armed people walking to the capitol building? Just boys will be boys I guess, he said 'they are not here to hurt ME' which clearly says he KNEW there were weapons there thus 'GET RID OF THE MAGS'. But that doesn't jive with your wish to keep up the pretense of loving the US.

Bannon is a small fry and was not even around when Trump started the coup. And testifying didn't stop the judge, he still has to appear in court testimony or not and why are you defending him anyway?

We believed him. Too bad the capitol cop leaders were paid off by Trump beforehand.
The plan was in the works for quite a while as the meeting in the WH by intruders who were not supposed to even have access to the POTUS and that was testified by Cipolone. It was a brutal meeting almost leading to physical confrontation and it was Mark Meadows escorting them out at 2 AM and now Trump lawyers are lining it up to make Mark Meadows the fall guy with the idea that will draw heat away from a criminal POTUS, TRUMP.
